Dan Ringwald has now also been named Atlantic Hockey player of the month for October.

I hope he sends the Uconn coaching staff a case of beer for leaving Larsen in the game.

In fact maybe we should too. Good ego boosting game for the team and fans :)

Lets not forget that UConn is winless on the year. Stat-padding games, yes. Ego booster? Wait until we beat a team that has some quality wins behind 'em.

In that case I am petitioning INCH to take away that player of the week award. No POTW awards for guys putting up hats in games against losers :)

Those awards are based largely on.... stats.

(shameless plug time)
for the games on the finals/break weeks, WITR will still be tailgating out in D-Lot. We are out there with our grills every home game, so please anyone feel free to come down with some food to grill. We usually start @ 3:30 and go until 6:00 but if we can get some people that stay till 6:30 we want to extend it.

I took a closer look at the home schedule and the academic calendar and realized that the home schedule leaves a lot to be desired by the students.

FALL

Nov. 16,17,18,19,20 Final exams—day classes - RIT plays @ Home against Sacred Heart November 20, 21.

WINTER

February 19 Last day classes - RIT plays @ Home against Air Force February 19, 20.
Feb. 22,23,24,25,26 Final exams—day classes RIT plays @ Home against Canisius February 26, 27
Feb. 28 - Mar. 7 Winter/Spring break Possible First Round of Atlantic Hockey Playoffs March 7

Most concerning is the winter schedule, where the games against Air Force and Canisius will likely determine playoff positions and bragging rights. And if history is any indication you can bet the band will not be at any of these games either - which will dampen the atmosphere a good bit. Last year the idea of assembling the band during a break came up a bit too late. Who can grease the skids with them now to see if they can plan on being at any of these games?

First off, when I was a student I always stayed on campus for the games, so they should suck it up! :D

You know I was at the UB football game last night and happen to be talking with some members of the Buffalo/Bowling Green Media and administrative officials about the age old debate over a D-I College Football Playoff system. The one arguement against that was used was that a playoff system would go on while exams and the did not want to put students through that. I pointed out what Kbranch just noted about RIT hockey which is something that happens every year. Its so easy debating those at the NCAA...

I think I'm going to grill a turkey in honor or thanksgiving. No, really. (probably Saturday the 21st if anyone wants to watch the mayhem)

I haven't been to a tailgate this year except before the York exhibition, but I was thinking we need to make some bigger food. It only takes an hour to roast a 5lb chicken; it would take a good deal longer to do something like a pork shoulder (pulled pork) or a (large) turkey.

I have a variety of cast iron cookware if we want to do something bigger; the games after finals will be my last as an RIT student since this is my last quarter; if I can't make those, then this weekend's games will.

Doing a pork shoulder the correct way IE no crock pots is a 8-12 hour time investment (depending on the shoulder size). I guess if you want to setup shop at 6 AM, in the RIT parking lot, spend the day maintaining the proper temperature, feeding fuel (if you using charcoal), maintaining proper smoke and moisture levels, and then hoping your shoulder is done by 6 PM go for it. Considering some of the fans we have I assume someone is going to try :)

Thinking on it if you guys are looking for something different to cook up I would suggest grilled pizza. It can be a complete disaster if you don't have a little practice at it but once you get it down its the shiznit :)

There's definitely been talk of bigger things for tailgates. When I do my turkey I'll be setting up at noon -- it should take 4.5 hrs. We've discussed doing a pie or something in a dutch oven. They also mentioned deep frying a turkey.

FYI, if you have never tried a grilled oreo cookie then you are missing out.

Pizza is definitely doable with a prebaked crust.....

Tigers pick up another 2010-2011 (Heisenberg has him listed as 2010 or 2011) recruit:

Matt Garbowsky - C - 5'10" 170lbs - 07/26/1990 from the BCHL Powell River Kings

2009 - 2010 Season Powell River Kings 18gm 8g 7a 15pt 0.8gpgm 6pim

Garbowsky played 2008-2009 for Brantford of the GOHL, where he was league scoring champion and a 2nd team allstar.

2008-2009 53gm 46g 64a 110pts 22pim 18ppg 23ppa

He was traded to Powell River in September 2009.

Don't need a prebaked crust :) But that probably cuts down on the "disaster" probability :)

One of these times, I'll have to make a tailgate...

LOL@Crock Pots. . . Maybe for kielbasi and sauerkraut but not for pulled pork. I have used electric smokers (very good at maintaining temp and smoke levels) and also have a smoker made out of a water heater (not so good at maintaining temp, but better when you don't have access to lots of electricity.

Time can be a problem, yes. That's why you need to start the day before until it's almost done, then let cool and store til the next day. Then you only need an hour or so.

My mouth is watering already!!! I love the ideas of new food being grilled. if there is anything extra needed to grill these larger food items, let me know.

I'm tentatively planning on showing up to Saturday's tailgate early and roasting a whole chicken (~5lbs). I have a charcoal grill I can bring with me; I don't want to take up a whole grill as it'll take about an hour and will have to stay closed the whole time. Would I get in trouble if I brought canned beer for roasting the chicken? ;)

You guys party with Ritter's body? That's cool. We have a Bea Arthur blowup doll on the island. They should hang out.
