Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

Did anyone go to meet the bus as it arrived back on campus early this morning? Ed, Chris, and I stayed overnight in Albany, so I am wondering how it was on campus.

It was the most fun I've had on campus yet! people were cheering sooo loud when the bus rolled up, I honestly didn't know that they emergency vehicles had their sirens on!! after the team got off the bus people swarmed the team. The Ole song started and everybody started jumping to the song *Scott, I trust you remember Mankato... That brought back some uncomfortable memories, but they all just melted away with the euphoric atmosphere. absolutely amazing!!

I took a look at the atlantic hockey site, and saw the article with Dmic and the frozen four logo. It still doesn't seam real.

As a UNH fan in Albany, of course I was disappointed. But, as a Bentley fan, I hope that RIT goes all the way. Looking forward to continued success for AHA teams.

OK....This is really going to hurt being a Mercyhurst fan but here goes......

CONGRATS RIT

Represent the AHA well.

Tiger fans know all too well how tough it is to support a rival once your season ends. There's more than enough time to despise each other during the season. Once it's NCAA time, we're one family and all the siblings should support the one leading the way. Afterall, the further the Tigers go, the better it is for everyone in the AHA. MC hanging tough when they were in helped the image of the league. HC over Minneota was an upset that let the hockey would know that we deserved the autobid. AFA last year made folks realize you better bring your A game when you're facing an AHA team because we will make you pay. This year it's the Tigers chance to represent and last weekend cemented the fact that the AHA is not a one horse league, and even if you bring your A game we can beat you. Who knows what the Frozen Four will bring, but the four power conferences this year are HE, CCHA, WCHA, and Atlantic Hockey. Man it's surreal typing that....

Along these lines, The Corner Crew needs to add an "At-lan-tic Hockey" chant to their repertoire. Remind the hockey establishment that is likely trying to forget where the Tigers are from. Kind of poke a finger in their eye and say, "We're here, what do think about that..."

A little change up from RIT Frozen Four talk.

Tiger goalie recruit Josh Watson was named BCHL player of the week for his performance in games against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. After going down 3-1 in the series, Watson got hot and the Kings now move on to the final round of the BCHL Playoffs.

"After allowing nine goals in two games, Watson reboundeded to steal the series back for the Kings. Playing on three straight nights -- all must-win games down 3-1 in the Coastal Conference Finals -- he didn’t let the pressure weigh him down, stifling the top-seeded Alberni Valley Bulldogs with a 0.66 goals-against average in the final three contests. The Lititz, Pennsylvania native turned aside 101 of the 103 shots the Bulldogs threw his way."

Now returning to the reality of the day. - the Frozen Four is BC, Miami, Wisconsin, and RIT. :D :D :D

Let's just stop and consider how far we've come.

Just five years ago, we were recovering from a season that may have been our worst in recent memory, thanks to a team that seemed to just give up once the move to D-I was announced.

Just four years ago, we thought we had a long road in front of us with only six wins in 30 games.

Just three years ago, we sat at home wondering what might have have happened had we been eligible for postseason play.

Just two years ago, we were wondering how we could lose 5-0 to Air Force with Matt Smith and Simon Lambert on the roster.

Just a year ago, we were wondering how we were going to replace Sarazin, Raymond, Kharin, and Menard.

Just five months ago, we were 0-5 and wondering if this was just going to be a down year for us, a year we'd have to take our lumps and hope for a good run in the tournament.

Less than four months ago, we were worried about Eckenswiller and whether his injury would be a fatal blow to our defense.

Less than three months ago, we were reeling as our OOC record dropped to 0-6 and we once again failed to beat Niagara.

Just over two months ago, we were stunned as two of our best players were forced to watch a game from the stands, a game we ended up losing.

Just sixteen days ago, we were wondering if giving up a 3-goal lead against UConn was a bad sign.

Just ten days ago, we were wondering if RIT could beat the "BCA jinx" and finally win an AHA semifinal game.

Just three days ago, we were hoping that RIT would put up a respectable showing against the #2 team in the country.

Just two days ago, we were wondering if the victory over Denver was a fluke.

And now... now, five years removed from one of the most abysmal seasons any of us can remember, from a season in which we allowed Elmira to erase a 2-goal deficit with two shorties in the last 90 seconds of a game, from the announcement of a risky and uncertain move to Division I... now, we're in the Frozen Four.

And we didn't do it with fluke goals or 66 saves from our goalie or bad officiating. We hung with Denver and outplayed New Hampshire. How incredible is this? How amazing? How unprecedented?

Our school did this. The coaches, administration, and fans have built a team that guys want to play for, a team they can have fun with, and a team that knows how to win, something we had to wonder about during a few lean years there.

RIT. Be proud of these student-athletes. But also be proud of your school, your alma mater, because they made the commitment to bring these players here and teach them how to win and win big. RIT didn't go D-I just to say they were D-I; we went to win and win big. And here we are. Every cent spent over the last five years is paying off right now, in ways we can only imagine.

Who are these guys? They're from Rochester Institute of Technology, folks. Think how many people are hearing that name for the first time this week. Think about what this will do for recruiting, but also think what this will do for non-athletic admissions as well. Think what it will do for school spirit. Think what it will do for local recognition and attendance and maybe even a new rink.

Who are these guys? Well, now we know. They're one hell of a team; our team.

Very well put. No matter what happens at the FF, we have a lot to be proud of. GO TIGERS!

It is great to see them in the top ten but I must admit I'm a bit confused why they aren't ranked higher, especially since we already know the teams competing in the final four. Was the poll taken prior to the regional semifinals? If not, what is the poll supposed to predict? What teams people like? Or something more meaningful than that?

Just curious.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

So apparently there are 5 teams ahead of RIT that are done playing. No respect. :D

I believe RIT has arrived as a DI program.

No respect from the media.
Threads dedicated to complaining about our overaged Canadian team.

Can't wait for the first RIT has no class thread.:) :)

Also notice that the discussion of OOC performance vs. League has pretty much disappeared. I love harmony in the family........

Yeah I think its save for us to stop fighting with each other. I think we can all agree the team sure as hell took a big step forward this year ;) Now its time to defend the boys against the haters :)

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

One of my favorite lines from this weekend, the announcers were talking about... I believe it was Cameron Burt yelling at teammates for taking pictures as they walked down the tunnels, as if they'd never be there again.

"What's with all the pictures? We BELONG here!"

It's that kind of attitude that won us those 2 games. It's that kind of attitude that solidifies our D1 foundation.

The Tigers were the lead topic on Bob Matthews' program tonight. Of course, Bob's on vacation (probably just so he didn't have to talk about the Tigers) but still -- nice to get a mention on WHAM.

Carl Faulk, his fill-in, said that the Wisconsin game will be carried live on WHTK, and if we make the championship game, it'll be on WHAM. Great news there for local exposure. Those of us in the know will be listening to WITR of course, but the casual Rochester sports fan is more likely to tune in on WHTK and WHAM.

On that note,
any chance WITR is going to post recordings of the broadcasts from Friday or Saturday? I would like to put them on my Ipod to cheer me up whenever I am stuck in traffic.
