RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Just saw this Article on Tahoo from the Province. Since Vancouver is having injury issues, there may be a possibility Tanev gets a call-up.

Well it would be sweet if he were to get a call up vs The Devils. Could Tanev be the First Tiger int he NHL?

Unfortunately, it won't be Tanev. He's not playing very well in the AHL...struggling to keep up with the speed from what I've heard. The fact he seems to take a hooking or holding call would seem to back that up. Connauton and Sweatt have been much better for the Moose.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Anyway, that was a great game tonight. Mitchell has really impressed me all season, and that was a ridiculous goal. Madolora really played a strong game as well. I like his agressiveness and ability to get way out to cut off the angle when it's obvious where the chance is coming from. He looked great tonight.

Sensing a bit of instant rivalry between Robert Morris brewing....seemed the refs barely had control of that game (if at all). It was frustrating giving up the tying goal on a penalty, and then watching a couple pretty clear penalties be missed. Madolora was battered a lot of the night. At one point a forward did a freaking barrel roll into him after failing to get to a loose puck, totally untouched by any Tiger. That has to be called.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Good win. Glad to see the young players step up with individual efforts to get the job done.

Madolora doesn't instill confidence in me yet. He played well and faced a lot of shots, but I'm not sold. Going to need more time to judge this.

I was pretty happy. If he shows a level of consistency over the next couple of games I think we are in good shape. I think the d is actually more of a problem. I don't think we moved the puck well on the point on the pp and robert morris had much more room than I used to seeing us give in the offensive zone. While the d is slowing coming together there is still a void left by the departures of Ringwald and Tanev

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

So does anyone still think Madolora can't be a good goalie :D.

I was wondering when the 'goalie wars' would flare up again....nice opening salvo.

Madolora 1-0-1
Rope 0-2-0
Watson 0-2-0

Now I'm not a math major but it seems that your implied statement is correct.

Happy Halloween everybody!

I think everyone's hands are off the panic button now. Great weekend for RIT. And yet ANOTHER year where RIT defeats a team that is ranked. :D :D :D

No, Bobby Mo was 22nd in votes this week, although they were #20 in INCH's power rankings.

A few thoughts on tonight's game.

RIT really out hustled Cornell after the first ten minutes of the first period. They also capitalized on the PP opportunities. Ropo looked good to me. He's got #1 potential IMHO.

One of the few RIT games I get to see. Interesting dynamic in that Cornell really dominated the first part of each period, after which RIT would weather the storm, then control the second half of each period. Sort of the 'rope-a-dope' strategy that a boxer from a bygone era would use on an 'allegedly' superior opponent. I thought CU's size advantage would benefit them, but at the 10:00 minute mark, those extra pounds/inches became a liability.

Edit: The kill of the 3x5 was a huge momentum buster for CU, and I ~believe~ it was CU who took the timeout prior to the 2 man advantage that the boxscore attributes to RIT.

The Timeout taked was Cornell's.

I think the reason why Cornell was able to dominate the first part of each period is their size and they had their best "quickness". However, I think RIT's conditioning AND that they have played games already helped them weather the storms. It sounds like RIT was quicker than Cornell in those second halves of the periods.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

RIT was absolutely quicker as a whole team. Also the D did a good job of keeping most of the Cornell shots to low quality. The two RIT PP goals were both sweet. They passed the puck smartly and there was nothing Iles could do on either.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Ropponen looked (sounded) like he was doing well last night.

Madalora looked good Friday, albeit a little squirrelly with some of his puck play and rebounds.

I haven't not liked what I've seen from Watson.

For all the doom-and-gloom, what do we do if all three tenders step up?

I liked what I saw of Madalora last year; my biggest worry going into this year was the defense.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Note to Ed and Scott: A new rule this season is that if a team is normally prevented from changing its lines prior to a faceoff, but the team takes their timeout, then they can go ahead and change lines. That's why RIT had different skaters out there after their timeout last night.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

I think the key to the Cornell win CLEARLY was defense. They made some HUGE clears when Cornell got their power play started. I remember hearing Spivak making some important clears. It was clearly a team win.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Congrats on beating Cornell, guys. Any time an "underdog" can shut the mouths of 4000 Lynah Faithful, it's just priceless. Good luck in your league play.
