Choppers? Really? You either need to suck it up or move to AZ.
Those gloves they handed out at the F5 should have been sufficient (I've been biking with them in the colder mornings of late).

It's not that it was that cold..I'm a "hot box," don't get me wrong..but hands are an integral part of golf as the grip is so important in your sswing and getting feel, etc. It's a lot easier to get good swings on the ball when you're hands aren't battling 40 degrees and wind for 4 hours.

Those F5 gloves actually are quite useful, I agree. My sister has been riding bike with mine!

Good morning. What passes for rainy season in Denver continued a bit last night and the weather guessers are saying showers off and on throughout today.

It's a beautiful sunny day today.

And as for your rep: this week, I've made braised short ribs, spaghetti pomodoro, and deviled chicken quarters with cauliflower tossed in butter and melted parm. Tonight, I'm having a cele-bacon.

Tonight at Chez Shot the executive chef will be making carrot-coconut soup. Sounds pretty good to me.;)

Story time!

For Valentines Day this year my dad bought my mom a 40 caliber Ruger pistol. She has been wanting one for years, so she loved that she finally got one. She got a bunch of targets and they went shooting several times, apparently she even hit the targets a couple times. Fast forward about 3 weeks, my dad goes to Laughlin, Nevada for a golf vacation with his friends from the golf course. He comes home and finds a bullet hole in the side of shed, about a foot from the door. He looked through the hole, and all he saw was his brand new combine ($350,000 machine). He spent about an hour and he couldn't find where the bullet hit in the shed. He got my mom outside to show him where she was standing, drew a line, the bullet should have hit the combine in the windshield. When I was home last weekend he had me try to figure out where it went, and I had no clue, it should have hit the combine. So now we get to laugh at my parents, a lot. But at least my mom can hit the broad side of a barn.

Flurries this morning! I'm ok with this, since I'm a twisted person like that, and won't be seeing much snow in Houston soon. Nothing on the ground though, so I guess that makes it better for those anti-snow people.

Ha! Wow. This is not the type of story you would hear about my parents.

DL would like it in DC today. The place is full of HS students sightseeing. Or are they too old?

i really do hate tourist season... wasn't too bad today though.

ugh... work is so very incredibly stressful... i can't wait until this project is over... i know its affecting my health and well-being. I so need a break. I compared my project against the GS guidelines for my series... this project is at least 2 grades above me... not above my capabilities so much but without something to regulate my stress its tough... if I had something in my life to regulate it (significant other.... good social life) I could handle it so so much better.

Morning Lodge.

Kid had his first track meet last night. Friggin cold and windy out, kid did not throw well, but it was still fun. He was in shorts and tee while everyone else was in warm-ups or sweats. His hands were freezing by the time he threw so he could not grip the discus well and he threw much worse than he did in warm-ups. He had not been slated to throw shot, but another kid did not show so he got bumped up to B team shot and did better throwing that since it didn't depend on his grip. Only he and one other kid made B as 7th graders, rest of A and B are 8th grade.

Oh well, he had fun and will do better in two weeks at his next meet, We know a ton of the other kids from soccer and hockey so it was fun to watch their races too. The throwing events are first and get over quickly so he can watch the other guys compete and just hang out.
Lil had a meet yesterday. I brought 3 extra blankets for the knuckleheads that were underdressed. They were utilized immediately and passed around for the whole meet. Happily I was wearing my polar fleece lined jeans and was only a little chilly. The other day I had on 5 layers and still took 3 hours to thaw out.

I got some more yard work done after work. The fact that I still haven't made a dent in the work that needs to be done is quite daunting. I started filling in a hole in the area that I'm turning back into yard and got some raking done. I need to cut off a bunch of little stumps at the ground so they don't mess up my mower. The next door neighbor came over to introduce himself, turns out he works for the same company as I do, just at the building I used to be at. He also gave me a map of the lots so I could figure out where my property ends. My lot is actually quite a bit bigger than I thought, I have 435' of frontage, though the "extra" area I found out about is all swamp right now. It should dry out in a couple weeks.
