Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

The part of that story that is the most confusing to me is not having access to eat at the public restaurant based in the hotel.

I can't fathom the level of miscommunication that had to be involved in that statement.

I wonder if what the 1st person was trying to say was that you couldn't put the tap from the restaurant on your hotel room bill. By and large, I don't expect hotel clerks to be among the brightest minds of society.

My guess is that corporate will offer gmann a set of free passes to the water park for when they visit in an effort to appease him. Particularly since water park passes have a marginal cost of nearly nothing to the owners.

walrus: I suspect that experience has given gmann a level of patience and perspective that far exceeds that of a normal person like you and me.

I'm sure you're correct in that. Still a few comments might give them an attitude adjustment that it seems they need

We live in a free country. ;)

FWIW I am sure that many people who visit the clinics and hospitals in Duluth really like paying a significantly reduced rate for a room and I wouldn't want that to be jeopardized. Not that it would. Just sayin.

Somebody from the hotel just called me. IMHO I got a canned response and a half assed apology.

I am not a very patient person by nature. however, name calling, yelling, swearing or pointing out somebody's weakness or errors will never get the results that you want it and it will only make matters worse.

I think you should be happy that you got a half-assed apology, it means that corporate made their displeasure known otherwise you would have recieved a quarter-assed apology.

Hurrah Stupid!

Correct. I also am not the most patient man when it comes to idiocy like this, but I've found that a nice, calm, almost-curt tone of voice exhibits any displeasure I have with the situation/person, and helps get things done. Of course, mentally I'm saying every word in the book.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Why when I reply to a thread that I started on the Alumni forum (or in the Test forum) do I have the opportunity to close the thread, while I don't for threads that I started in the D-I or Cafe forums?

Why do I care? :D

That's what I heard from FM a couple days ago. He got a hold of the MN schedule.

And gmann: I'll only say this once, sir. Please do not use that language in my presence. It is not only offensive, it is crude. If you continue to use such language, I'll be forced to take action via the moderators and will voice my displeasure to them. Thank you.

Now go get your *ing shinebox, you inbred backwoods hick. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

I contacted a hotel in Duluth to make a reservation as the g family will be staying in Duluth for a couple days due to little g having a procedure scheduled later this spring. I was disheartened after my conversation with the person taking my reservation.

(Due to little g having this procedure the clinic we are using informed us that we can stay at this hotel and get a reduced rate.) I inquired about this rate only to find out that we do not have access to the waterpark. Fine. I asked if we could purchase waterpark passes. We cannot. Reduced rate on the room but no extras and we cannot purchase waterpark passes. Fine I get it. I then inquired about anything else that might be restricted due to the reduced rate. I was informed that we would not be allowed to use the restaurant (which is open to the public). I then inquired about additional options. Could we get a room that comes with waterpark passes and access to the restaurant that I would be willing to pay full price for? I was told no. I responded with "so, because I have a son with a disability my family cannot stay at your establishment and if even if we could get a room we could not use your water park or your restaurant even if we paid full price?" The response I got was "you are correct."

I am sure the lady on the phone got confused and some how misspoke. I asked to speak with a manager. I explained what had just transpired to the manager. The manager really didn't seem to care and offered no solutions or apologies.

End of rant.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Thanks. I didn't know your name.
Duh. Mr Slippers.
Morning, all. Today has been a ... trying day and it's only 11:15. The 4 year old, who has some discipline and behavioral issues, is making me want to pull out my hair today. She was put in time out for throwing around a 4' model of Rapunzel's castle (it belongs to the oldest who got it for her birthday). When in time out, she picked at the walls down to the sheetrock and was digging a hole.   I put her upstairs in her room with the shades closed, lights off, and pull-up on and told her to go to sleep (because otherwise I might just throttle her).
:( I hate the age of 4. They are old enough to want what they want and young enough that morals and ethics make no influence on how they get it.

So, what hotel in Duluth should we all be avoiding in the future?

I wonder what the manager would say if you let him know that your next call was going to be a State agency that deals with discrimination in lodging cases?

So, the name of the place we should all be commenting on is....

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Well, some of the Lodgeonians are getting ready to officially welcome Scarlet to MN tonight at a hoity-toity-type place for dinner. I think that will suffice as the official Frozen Four Week kick-off! Let the shenanigans, tomfoolery, skullduggery, and sneakthievery begin!

Snotty Staff Really there isn't much more to say. We are local residents. I called to find out how much for a family of three (two adults and an under 2) to come down and swim for a couple hours. I asked if toddlers were free and got a scoff and a snotty, "Nope." Then I was snarled the price of $85 for a family of 4 followed by "We don't budge." Well, that's fine Mr. Snottypants. You don't budge... I'll write a review. :)

:D :D :D

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Wow, the Google reviews for that place do not paint a pretty picture.

Duloot is not smart. The entire town, including its school.

They must not understand what compliance wit the ADA truly means or how word of this is so easy to get around these days. I'd go to sites like hotels.com and give a nice rundown of the events. This can easily turn into a real *storm for this hotel. I'd also inform the hospital about this so that you could kindly suggest another hotel as its preferred patient's family accommodation.
I'm with Clown here. I say we get on ever online site that allows for commits and ratings on the hotel in question and all outdo the commie there.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Doodies floating in the pool??
Hot rooms, dirty rooms, dirty water park, poor service, poor attitude re the poor service. If I read those I wouldn't want to stay there if I had a chance.

I wish I would have seen this earlier today. I ran by that place, I would have made sure I had a flame thrower, or some bad eggs. At the very least, I would have busted out teacher voice and made sure they had some freshly ripped new ones.
Seriously though, that is complete and utter garbage. I'm so sorry you had go through that, and please don't judge all of us here based on that experience.

If you need anything while you are in town, just let me know.
