Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Good morning lodge.
I'm trying to decide if it be worth coming up for the champ game that I really don't care about or if my time would be better spend here actually attempting to be productive over the weekend.
If you're not going to use your Twins ticket, let me know ASAP, so I can find someone else that wants it.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Morning.

I ended up at bb_dl's favorite bar last night to watch the crappy first half of the NCAA basketball final. Not sure why its his favorite though. Slow service on a Monday night when no one is there is not a good sign for when its actually busy. All the chairs grate against the floor like fingernails on a chalkboard because some idiot can't figure out that they need rubber caps on the bottom of them. Plus it must be all the homely girls who work early in the week, because just looking around I only saw 2 servers who shouldn't be covered up with more clothing and possibly a mask.
Yeah, they must have the B squad in on Monday nights. Service has been great every time I've eaten there, and getting drinks at the bar is a pain, but no worse than any other bar that is packed. I've never heard the chairs screeching... I've never been there on a weeknight. It is too far for me to go unless its a weekend.

I'm guessing in a packed bar with loud music you might not notice the chairs. But it was painful, even our server was like "yea, we know, it sucks."

btw, did you get my text? I wanted to be sure I had the right number in my phone.

yep, I got the text. We'll plan on meeting at noon at Huberts (and this goes for everyone who is going to the Twins game, we'll be at Hubert's having lunch and drinks, stop by if you're also going). We will be easy to pick out, I'm guessing.

It is usually pretty loud in the bar when I've been there, even when there isn't a band playing there have been enough people that the background noise must be loud enough that I haven't noticed the chairs.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

I haven't noticed the chairs.

I have certainly noticed them at lunch. I must also say that the waitstaff, while scantily dressed, is not all that attractive at lunch time either. Most are OK and a few good looking but I haven't seen any knock-your-socks-off types.

I'm guessing they schedule them when all the drunk people are there on Friday and Saturday nights. :p

And today it sort of begins! Need to pack, since I know that won't happen tomorrow morning, iron a couple shirts, pick up some tailgating food, get some cashmoney, and mentally prep myself for the weekend (since I'm sure I'll experience some crazy things this weekend).

I can't wait.

I have to pack tonight when I get home, and I'll have way too much **** to pack. My current plan is to leave work and meet up with you guys right away, either at your place to pick everyone up and go to St. Paul, or in St. Paul, if you are already there. I will have to find a place to part the first night I'm there, close to the hotel. Then on Thursday morning I'll drive to the tailgating lot, so we have my truck to store stuff in if needed. Hopefully I can leave my truck there all weekend, for some extra money to the big guy, like I did for the Final 5.

I think we're going to try and beat rush hour and check in at 3, but will keep you updated. And the hotel ramp is open to anyone, but it's something like $17/day.

And don't forget your suit for Saturday. :)

Go ahead and let someone else use it. If I make it up in time for the game I can deal with getting a ticket at that point.

Brent: if i had a ticket in hand, had not been up for the f5, or the badgers were playing I'd be there no problem. Unless you want to write either my paper on the air pollution problems of taconite production or the latest advancements on the iron dissolution in CTM and surface process modeling, spending 10 hours driving so I can be taken to the cleaners to watch und win another NC doesn't seem like the best use of my time.

Or it could be that you are wearing beer goggles. Remember, beauty is only a light switch away. :D

Well, geez when you put it THAT way...:p

Sucks that you won't be here, though.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Good morning all. Gorgeous spring day here in Denver. Temps headed to the low to mid seventies this afternoon. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Did you cook anything today?

In class, no. I have to take the prep classes first (food safety, intro to gastronomy, culinary math, and portfolio prep) before I can start cooking at the school. I was so tired after I got home though that I just grilled up some portobellos in a red wine vinaigrette with melted parm for dinner.

Today I'm awake, and I've been putting off caramels for so long that I have to get them done today. Also, I think I'm going to have chicken with a lemon-caper sauce with a medley of roasted vegetables (carrots, turnips, potatoes) for dinner tonight.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Morning, all. Today has been a ... trying day and it's only 11:15. The 4 year old, who has some discipline and behavioral issues, is making me want to pull out my hair today. She was put in time out for throwing around a 4' model of Rapunzel's castle (it belongs to the oldest who got it for her birthday). When in time out, she picked at the walls down to the sheetrock and was digging a hole.   I put her upstairs in her room with the shades closed, lights off, and pull-up on and told her to go to sleep (because otherwise I might just throttle her).

yeah, maybe in the later parts of the night, but its tough to get beer goggles when you show up sober. Also, I've DD'd from there before. Shocking, I know.

mmm...I miss cooking. When my class ends on Saturday, I'll be very excited to have a life again (one that includes time in my kitchen). At least until classes start up again at the end of May! I'm thinking celebratory loaves of whole wheat bread on Sunday and something tasty for tcbg when he comes home from Minn.

I propose something tasty for tcbg to bring with to MN. :D
