Unlike your wife who prefers to keep the light on..........
Correct, and we have no curtains in the bedroom so the whole neighborhood gets to watch. Why deny them the pleasure?
Also, I think I'm going to have chicken with a lemon-caper sauce with a medley of roasted vegetables (carrots, turnips, potatoes) for dinner tonight.
I should have clarified in my post. I was posting on my personal experiences.......(runs like hell to the wood shed)
Okay, who gave Brent and the Commie, gmann's and goldy's passwords...
I contacted a hotel in Duluth .... and offered no solutions or apologies.
End of rant.
I contacted a hotel in Duluth to make a reservation as the g family will be staying in Duluth for a couple days due to little g having a procedure scheduled later this spring. I was disheartened after my conversation with the person taking my reservation.
(Due to little g having this procedure the clinic we are using informed us that we can stay at this hotel and get a reduced rate.) I inquired about this rate only to find out that we do not have access to the waterpark. Fine. I asked if we could purchase waterpark passes. We cannot. Reduced rate on the room but no extras and we cannot purchase waterpark passes. Fine I get it. I then inquired about anything else that might be restricted due to the reduced rate. I was informed that we would not be allowed to use the restaurant (which is open to the public). I then inquired about additional options. Could we get a room that comes with waterpark passes and access to the restaurant that I would be willing to pay full price for? I was told no. I responded with "so, because I have a son with a disability my family cannot stay at your establishment and if even if we could get a room we could not use your water park or your restaurant even if we paid full price?" The response I got was "you are correct."
I am sure the lady on the phone got confused and some how misspoke. I asked to speak with a manager. I explained what had just transpired to the manager. The manager really didn't seem to care and offered no solutions or apologies.
End of rant.
So, what hotel in Duluth should we all be avoiding in the future?
I wonder what the manager would say if you let him know that your next call was going to be a State agency that deals with discrimination in lodging cases?
Uh, wow
I hope you're not stopping there. I'd suggest an email or letter to the head offices would be in order. I hope you're right that there was only confusion.

Duloot is not smart. The entire town, including its school.
They must not understand what compliance wit the ADA truly means or how word of this is so easy to get around these days. I'd go to sites like hotels.com and give a nice rundown of the events. This can easily turn into a real *storm for this hotel. I'd also inform the hospital about this so that you could kindly suggest another hotel as its preferred patient's family accommodation.
. All I requested is that they use this as an opportunity to train their staff to avoid this in the future. It will be interesting to see what kind of follow up I get if any..
The part of that story that is the most confusing to me is not having access to eat at the public restaurant based in the hotel.
I can't fathom the level of miscommunication that had to be involved in that statement.
