UncleRay!! Our bartender is back!! :D

Hi, Lodge. I think the worst of this flu nonsense is over. Then again, spending more time asleep than awake today probably helped. Back to work tomorrow, probably won't run again until Tuesday at the earliest though.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

I'm really starting to hate going to the old folks home for mom visits. First, I show up and basically have to cock block my mom from the only guy living there that doesn't drool all over himself. The guy doesn't know what my mom's saying because she gets out five or six words before she starts whistling a tune.

Now this old lady comes up to me to start some insane conversation, and I play along a little, being cordial. But then she starts hitting on me, hugging me, and patting my gut. The worst is that she's not the first to do this to me there. Good grief, I'm cougar bait and fossil bait now.

Then another woman comes by and says to me, "Do I know you?" I replied that no, she does not know me. Every time I show up there she asks that question. Finally she wants help getting back to her room because she's tired - every time I'm there she starts on that line. I walk her back to her room only to have her tail me when I start to leave. Of course, my mom's walking with us the whole time, and starts getting a few of the old bats worked up about a party in the basement. The place doesn't have a basement. So they're opening all the bathroom doors, looking for the stairway to the basement.

After all of that, my mom finds the old guy in the chair and starts petting his shoulder. I guess this happens a lot. My mom's an old hussy, but not a very successful one. That's when I left. All told, the visit was only about 20 minutes, but it's all just too much to go for longer. It's like a bad sketch comedy every time I'm in there now.

College hockey trivia that I figured out this afternoon messing around with schedules and such: What is the number of teams that can finish the season with a win in D1?

edit: 6... that's a mistake on my part
edit: 7... that really is a mistake on my part... and it depends on if certain leagues still do certain things

You're all going to hate me, and I could still screw this up....

Alabama-Huntsville (ended season with a loss to Ferris State)
Hockey East 9th
Hockey East 10th (UMass-Lowell is assured a share)
WCHA 3rd Place (unlikely given pairwise, may be impossible this year, but not at the start of the year)
ECAC 3rd Place (ditto)
CCHA 3rd Place (ditto)
National Champion

I'm not sure if they are all still playing their 3rd place games.... but at the start of the year its 7.

WCHA doesn't have a 3rd place game anymore.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Hello lodge! Got back from my four-day trip to Lutsen for skiing. Fantastic resort. Beautiful scenery and the most amazing of views.

Our cabin on the shore of Lake Superior ---> http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hpho...100455322881230_13901339_68468835_42819_n.jpg

View from the top of the mountain (facing Lake Superior) ---> http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hpho...0456340257400_13901339_68484053_6770497_n.jpg

Expensive, but great trip.

You missed a fun night here, though. Just saying. ;)

I don't doubt that. But I love skiing. I finally built some confidence and took on some black diamonds. Only fell the one time when I came over a ridge and noticed a skier on the ground next to a snowmobile with another snowmobile coming up the mountain. Tried to quickly change my path and caught the edge of my trailing ski on the ice.

Ski weekends are awesome. Just had one myself. Conditions were pretty good, considering the recent thaw.

Also ate veal this weekend, and drank this bourbon. All told, a pretty good weekend. Which is good, considering this week is going to suck.

Black diamonds in Minnesota < black diamonds in any state that has actual mountains. :p

And we all know what he really meant by saying that he loves skiing. :D
