Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Nope. No offense to any Lodge members - but I am not driving down to cityslickerville to watch a 9-12-4 girls team play high school hockey.........I might make a trip to butt****egypt, ND this weekend to watch BSU smoke the Fighting Flicker Riders. :p

Hornet girls won 6-0 over Rosemount. I know the families of three of the girls who scored. Will DVR their game tomorrow, but I'm not driving to St. Paul to see a girl's high school game. The youth A and B1 teams are in District play right now and I'd rather go see those if I have time. Those are the kids I know best as they are friends of my kid.

So I'm considering a purchase that will bring me a significant amount of scorn. I'm looking at joining The Cult of Apple and getting an iPad.
Bigger version of the ITouch. Got to play with an Ipad this past weekend, my buddy has every thing Apple has ever made. I have a Touch which is cool and the IPad was the same thing only bigger. Cool toy but nothing more. If I had money to burn I'd have one. Same as an Iphone

The ipads are actually useful to our firm. Our Principals all have them as they are great for showing images to clients. We can store tons of photos and renderings of buildings and a lot of floor plans as well (in pdf files, not actual drawings) and scroll through them really quick to brainstorm about what they like and don't like. It's much quicker and easier than any laptop or other device for this purpose.

Maybe for up in your neck of the woods where most buildings are Butler Buildings or pole barns that would work, but other parts of the state want a little more style in their buildings. :p

You know there is an AutoCAD reader available too for the iPod/iPhone/iPad, right?

Yeah, and we use that too, but ACAD files are much larger than pdfs. We put lots of images on these things and might have one or two relevant ACAD files for a specific client.

Pictures would be great on it and I can see it as useful for idiot bosses:D. Its a nice piece of equipment. It'd be perfect for my wife, she surfs, collects her pics, music etc. No need for a laptop, its only 3/4 of an inch or so, easy to travel with, perfect

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

When it first came out, I was firmly in the "it's just a bigger iPod" camp, but I liked the big screen's possibilities for movies, e-books, web, etc. If only they could knock a couple hundred off the price, it would be perfect as a mobile entertainment center. That's pretty much exactly what they did.

When the 2nd gen comes out, if the 1st gen drops into the $300's that's pretty much a no-brainer for me. I'd have a solid laptop for around the house and an iPad for entertainment and light work on the go, all for under the cost of a Macbook. I don't want to pay through the nose for a data plan for a smart phone, because my current cell phone plan is a bargain.

Who would have thought Apple of all companies would be winning on price?

I won't buy anything Apple. I wouldn't mind getting one of the Android pads, that Motorola one looks pretty badass.

The sailors say "k girl, you're a fine girl. What a good wife you would be (such a finnnnnnnne). But my life, my love, and my lady.... Is the sea-
"do-do-diddly-do-do...."

Evening, Lodge. Groceries are bought, dishes washed, laundry done, and floor swept. Even went to the library today.
