Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

In other news, my chef's knife is very sharp. Must be more careul in the future when slicing onion lest I slice into the tip of my thumb...again. Made a makeshift bandage with paper towels so I could finish prepping dinner. Looked down a minute or so later, and the paper towel was soaked through and there was blood all over my hands. Whoops! Hasn't bled through the two Band-aids I put on (one across in each direction), so hopefully that will hold it.

Were you making steak tartare? :p

Sorry about your loss and your unsympathetic workplace, les. :(

Ooh, I might be at that Lowell game (UNH is up at Maine that weekend, and I'm not making that trip this year).

I guess I might be there too then!

Yikes!! That wasn't the reason I got you the cookbook. I didn't mean for you to make sliced tcbg for dinner!!

 If I'm not mistaken you're the only Rep Lodge smokin' hottie I haven't met yet. After meeting you my life's mission will be complete......

i recall seeing you at the beanpot couple years ago... (well, it had to be you -- there could have only been one dude with a big "M" on a white hockey sweater that hogged up the jumbletron for a solid minute that night :p )

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Sorry to hear about that les. :(

I'll bet ctf could. ;) :p

In all seriousness 'diva, aside from Twitch's suggestions, you should also run a Google search for crockpot recipes, as the options are pretty limitless. When I was still living in Houghton, I believe my roommate and I made a crockpot mac n' cheese that, while not as good as the oven-baked variety, was still pretty solid and less involved to boot.

My mom makes a crockpot chicken stew that she calls "French Chicken" (I have no idea how it got that name). I'll see if I can find the recipe and post it over in the Cooks thread, but it's basically chicken breasts w/ canned white beans, some chicken broth, canned tomatoes incl. juice, onions, red & yellow bell peppers, and a couple dried spices. You let it braise in the crockpot all day and serve it with some bread. It's low in fat but pretty filling, it tastes good, and there's inevitably leftovers to last for 2-3 lunches. :)

Minus the beans, that sounds delicious. :) Thanks! ^^This is the kind of stuff I was looking for, personal recipes of the "Hey, I tried this and it was great!" persuasion. I think tRoommate's fiance has a crockpot mac and cheese recipe, though he'll probably just tell me mine's too small to make it in or whatever.

It's not always about size, ya know!

But without the tartar sauce.

I actually meet that guy at a Noles game last fall. Since I was wearing a Gopher football jersey he asked me "Who has Floyd?". It turns out he went to Iowa. For those who don't know in football the Gophers and Iowa play for Floyd of Rosedale which is a bronze pig trophy. It was kind of creepy because while he was talking to me he was staying in character from the TV commericials so he was giving me the eye and acting weird.

Prayers your way.

Speaking of which- for those inclined would appreciate some prayers headed our way. MIL passed last night. We got the call this AM. My FIL is devastated. This is the 3rd woman he has buried who died of CA. (CA sux!)

And my work sucks. THey are freaking because the funeral is going to be on Thursday when I was covering by myself in the AM. They want to know if I am taking the whole day or only part of it. Not how are you doing, can we do anything for you  Why should I be feeling guilty if I take the day after my MIL dies. Why sould anyone even assume that I would not take a whole day. I feel bad for my boss (not for the a-hole other NP) but for pete's sake! It isn't like I planned for her to die or had a say in the funeral:mad:
Thoughts and prayers your way, les! :(

Sorry to hear, les. :( Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. And that sucks about work. You don't have bereavement leave?

I'm watching The Princess Bride right now. Such a great movie.

No more rhymes now, I mean it!!
Anybody want a peanut?

If they're ceramic - use a little nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol.

Positive thoughts headed in your direction.

Afternoon, kids! Living the life of the unemployed has been nice for day 1. I made dinner last night (Pasta Carbonara with extra bacon) at no cost to me (living at home for the next 3 weeks does have a few perks) and then read the entire introduction to How To Cook Everything by Mark Bittman. This morning I woke up, made an egg-white omelet, watched Julie and Julia with my mom. :)
Sounds scrumptious!

Evening, Lodge. I was told today at work that even though I have general availability and even though I've been wanting more challenging demos, that the good demos go to the people who have seniority... the same ones who complain about having to do the same demos over and over again.

Thoughts and prayers go out to you les! Sorry to hear about that!

And yes she could. I could too! :p

As for the poll, I'm such a newb I don't really understand any of this. Maybe I'll actually stay outta this thread... probably not though haha

And you didn't stop over to say Hi? Yeah that was me. The best part was getting booed by the crowd when I was popping the Gopher jersey. Got to represent.

2! (And, I've only met 3 from that list.)

Well, 1.5, as the other was only half-nekked. And by her choice, not mine. Also, I was a gentleman, and did not look (as she was nekked out of necessity at the moment, not to be nekked for me).
