Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Sorry for your loss Les. My thoughts go to you and your family.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

It was before my time, but it's kind of a legend.

Some nutjob criticized Ferris State's fanbase, calling them drunken idiots and referring to their arena as the Dumby Barn.

It even had its own song I believe.

Yes, yes it did. I wrote most of the lyrics. :D

Sorry to hear that Les. :(

Sorry les. Hope the folks you work with grow a heart soon, or you find a place to work with more reasonable people... :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Giada fares well in these. I know I always vote for parts of her. There should be a poll that has two options, Giada and Freddy Meyer.

I would really like to see Giada come out on top. Not of Freddy Meyer, though.

Brom AND {PROVICED? But no Ylae?

I would like to get to a Yale home game. I've heard their rink is kind of cool but the fact that Brown (4:00) and Providence (7:00) both are at home on the same day and are so close makes that appealing. 2>1

I could do Yale on friday night instead of Mass-Lowell but the BU at Mass-Lowell game is currently more appreal because hopefully Bostonewe and/or Les will be at the game.

Is your cold acting up again? :D Says the gal who didn't seem earger to meet me when I traveled to New York for the BU/Cornell game in 07. As a result, I didn't want to assume you would this time.

I would gladly hang out/meet you again if you're there. :)

Prayers your way.

Speaking of which- for those inclined would appreciate some prayers headed our way. MIL passed last night. We got the call this AM. My FIL is devastated. This is the 3rd woman he has buried who died of CA. (CA sux!)

And my work sucks. THey are freaking because the funeral is going to be on Thursday when I was covering by myself in the AM. They want to know if I am taking the whole day or only part of it. Not how are you doing, can we do anything for you  Why should I be feeling guilty if I take the day after my MIL dies. Why sould anyone even assume that I would not take a whole day. I feel bad for my boss (not for the a-hole other NP) but for pete's sake! It isn't like I planned for her to die or had a say in the funeral:mad:

Les, I am sorry to hear of your family's loss and appalled to learn the entire administrative staff and work force of the hospital at which you work graduated manga cum nutcase from the Richard Cranium School of Sensitivity.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

I got another crock pot cookbook in my stocking. More creations for me to attempt.

Oh, and my parents' idea of how to celebrate their 40th anniversary: the family is going to Disney World in February. Right in the middle of tax season. This oughta be interesting...

I just got a crockpot for Christmas! Any good suggestions for simple recipes??

:( Sorry to hear that, les. Prayers for the whole family.

Hi, Lodge. Safely in the Detroit Metro area.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Les - I'm sorry for your loss; you and yours will be in my thoughts. :(

in a serious moment...the 9/11 thread.
A close second on the serious note for me was the Shawn Walsh memorial thread, later that month (September '01 was pretty heavy 'round here). Just a lot of people from varying fanbases setting aside their rivalries to remember a great coach.

So many great choices in this poll, but I have to go with the Freddy Meyer one. People who've never even heard of Frederick Meyer except in passing during an NHL game know that he's a hack. Simply awesome. :)

I could do Yale on friday night instead of Mass-Lowell but the BU at Mass-Lowell game is currently more appreal because hopefully Bostonewe and/or Les will be at the game.
Ooh, I might be at that Lowell game (UNH is up at Maine that weekend, and I'm not making that trip this year).

In other news, my chef's knife is very sharp. Must be more careul in the future when slicing onion lest I slice into the tip of my thumb...again. Made a makeshift bandage with paper towels so I could finish prepping dinner. Looked down a minute or so later, and the paper towel was soaked through and there was blood all over my hands. Whoops! Hasn't bled through the two Band-aids I put on (one across in each direction), so hopefully that will hold it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Sorry to hear about that les. :(

Chili or meatballs. Can't really screw those up.

I'll bet ctf could. ;) :p

In all seriousness 'diva, aside from Twitch's suggestions, you should also run a Google search for crockpot recipes, as the options are pretty limitless. When I was still living in Houghton, I believe my roommate and I made a crockpot mac n' cheese that, while not as good as the oven-baked variety, was still pretty solid and less involved to boot.

My mom makes a crockpot chicken stew that she calls "French Chicken" (I have no idea how it got that name). I'll see if I can find the recipe and post it over in the Cooks thread, but it's basically chicken breasts w/ canned white beans, some chicken broth, canned tomatoes incl. juice, onions, red & yellow bell peppers, and a couple dried spices. You let it braise in the crockpot all day and serve it with some bread. It's low in fat but pretty filling, it tastes good, and there's inevitably leftovers to last for 2-3 lunches. :)
