Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Yup, ctf's on ac pro. Like, quite bad ac pro.
Annnd, in reality, it wasn't really too much party not enough study. It was more too much freshman laziness and thinking I'd still get by. I've now learned that going to class is something that's a good idea. As is doing your homework. And showing up for quizzes. Etc.
This semester, I'm taking easy classes, so I should be good to go, as long as I buckle down and get sh*t done.

I still remember the first test I took in college. It was in physics. In high school, physics was easy (not trying to brag just stating a fact) but that test sure wasn't. After bombing this first test I was depressed for awhile and for the first time I doubted if I was smart and could do it. Looking back it was one of the best things that could have happened. It served as a wake up call, that I was going to have to work and study a lot harder in college. Bombing this test served as motivation. I was determined to suceed. I did well in college after that until my last full quarter at which point I started slacking off because I knew I was going to reach the finish line even if I coasted. College definitely proved to me that hard work does pay off.

When something doesn't go well in your life you have two choices you can let it get you down (which we all do at times including myself) or use it as motivation to do better the next time and there always is a next time. Life constantly challenges you.

The only time you truly lose in life is when you give up.

I'm not trying to preach to you or act like I know it all. I'm just giving you my thoughts and trying to help. I still deal with being lazy at times. Who doesn't? Plus I'm still learning things about myself and life. I don't think anybody ever knows it all.

But I do know that life is a constant journey of good and bad so you might as well enjoy the good and learn from the bad.

I do have one question for you. Do you want to serve pasties in the UP for the rest of your life? I have no doubt you're capable of so much more. It's up to you. :)

He's not saying anything that I'm not thinking so he's not alone.

why sugar coat it? Her performance in college is absolute horse*t and she think she can get by simply because she skipped kindergarten. She might as well gear up to be a lackey under the Lodge Forklift Jockey or to be Bakunin's housekeeper.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

I'm heading to Lake Mille Lacs on Friday morning with 7 other guys. Breaking in the new 16' wheeler house on it's inaugural voyage.

I went up north last week for a couple days to drown a few minnows. One of the nights in the icehouse the guys were drinking Icehouse beer. I am not a big fan of beer (and actually I rarely drink) and I have never had an Icehouse before. For some reason they tasted good and I drank more than I should have along with the Buttershots and the Snowshow Grog. Mr. Walleye was cooperating but my hand eye coordination was not in synch, if you know what I mean. :)

"If you are ever too drunk to fish...." :p :D

So that's why Mrs. g called me last week angry saying that she needs a man who has skills and that she would be right over.

The latter job would be way more of a pain in the arse.

Literally.

Well I'm glad none of you know the background of my college education, seeing that you're all b****ing about ctf's ONE bad semester. Although I do give some of you credit for the constructive criticism/advice.

However it turned out for you, as long as you make it off the ice safely, it's a good time, IMO ;)

Here's a live webcam of an area near where I'll be fishing. I see they've got the big permanents out, and if the wheeled fish house toward the front an center of the image is still there, That's exactly like my ice castle wheeler. :)

I believe she asked for it.

It's all good. Got set up and cracked my first beer at 1 PM. Packed up and left the lake and literally crawled into the back of the truck at 4 AM. Buddy emailed me a pic of myself on the ride back off the lake. Passed out with a cigar in my mouth cuddled up to a frozen walleye. :o ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

...you're joking, right? We're talking about NMU. I have yet to hear of a scenario that they wouldn't let someone in. Maybe if you're talking a GPA <1.0, but even then they might let you in on academic probation.
Not that I don't love my school, but sometimes the truth is what it is, and it's not always pretty.

I was in the top 20% of my graduating class, and was offered nearly a full ride to NMU. I think that says a lot about the quality of NMU's programs (or at least everything except education and nursing). :p

It's possible that I am. You do have a point though. One of the biggest dunces of my graduating class got into NMU, however, he was on ac pro initially, and it appears as if he's now been kicked out, though he's appealing. Idk, by the end of this semester, if I do what I'm capable of, I could have a 2.6, a 3.2 by the end of the summer. As long as I get my priorities straight, I should be okay.

You're basically in the same situation I was in after two semesters of adjusting to college life/freshman slacking/MTU instructors. Changing majors helped me refocus, and I'm sure it'll help you too. Just don't let senioritis bite you in a few years. :o
