Heading to Minny next week for 5 days of ice fishing bliss.:)

You're bringing all your Gortex and Thinsulate right?

:D

You're headed for Lake of the Woods? Keep us posted and we'll do the same as we head out.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

You're basically in the same situation I was in after two semesters of adjusting to college life/freshman slacking/MTU instructors. Changing majors helped me refocus, and I'm sure it'll help you too. Just don't let senioritis bite you in a few years. :o
I found it was much easier to do well at the beginning, pump up the grades then slide home to the finish when the classes get tougher and the grades get worse. Besides, the longer you go, the less impact a bad grade has on your GPA...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Whoa, did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

Is this your first day here? That's the side of the bed he always gets up on. ;)

And he said what we were all thinking...except he's a dick. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Afternoon Loj.

Hacky Birthday Freddy Meyer!!!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

So, the Gophs didn't truly lose to NMU last night?

:p

Yeah but they have a lot of games left this season to do better and even if they suck the rest of season there is always next year or the year after. There are always more games in sports and more challenges in life. It never ends unless you give up or die. :p

Speaking of losing how did the cake eaters do against Minnetonka? :D

no, I'm just not afraid of hurting people's feelings and don't really care if people think I'm mean for speaking the truth. The truth hurts and she needs to hear it.

Gopher fans = Cubs fans? :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Maybe she thought you should make a donation to the Human Fund?
Wow, we made a reference to the Human fund at work today too.

I still remember the first test I took in college. It was in physics. In high school, physics was easy (not trying to brag just stating a fact) but that test sure wasn't. After bombing this first test I was depressed for awhile and for the first time I doubted if I was smart and could do it.

The only time you truly lose in life is when you give up.
Very True. I had the same problem my freshman year. I loved calculus in HS and I felt like I missed two years of it when I walked into that freshman calc for engineers. Took me a good two semesters to figure out how to actually study. Althought I never got near Academic Probation, those C's and B's were really weird to see as grades.

Hopefully Gopher fans don't have to wait a century for the next championship. If so something tells me I wouldn't get to see it.

I'm a Cubs fan. I used to follow the Cubs all the time on WGN when I was a kid. The Cubs will win the World Series one of these years. Any team can have a bad century. :D

This summer maybe I'll have to travel to Chicago to see the Cubs play at Wrigley Field again (always a good time) or see the Twins play the White Sox. Ideally with a certain Northern poster, his fiance, and a certain poster who hates pants.

Apparently they didn't "truly lose" since they never gave up. How's them Spartans?:p

Actually, the Hornets did really well against, perhaps, the best team in the State. Kept the shots close and lost by one. 'Tonka is clearly the more talented team this year, but the Hornets can play with them. Could be a barn burner at Mariucci in the section finals again this year. Maybe 'Tonka won't "come to play". :p

The cake eaters might as well have. They suck. The Spartans soon wouldn't have a team.

 An Edina fan who can actually admit when their team isn't the best. It's great to see Edina is becoming a defensive team who is happy to keep it close against good teams. Edina is now happy with moral victories. They definitely have the right coach since he was a stay at home defensemen with the North Stars.

In all seriousness, it's good to see some new teams get good. I find it boring when the same teams are always the best. Minnetonka definitely has a good team. I enjoyed their game against Blaine a few weeks ago and plan on getting to some more high school games involving different teams soon.

Not quite, we have living fans who actually remember a championship. ;)

Yeah but what about all those 6 and half year old Gopher fans who have lived their whole life without seeing their team win the championship? :D

Over the last couple of years some times when I would start bi7ching about the Yankees (yes I'm a Yankee hater and I have no problem admitting it) people would stop me and say something like well they haven't won a championship in 8/9 years. I would immediately say oh man I really feel sorry for those 7/8 year old kids who have lived their whole life without seeing their team win the championship. Man that's got to be rough. Well thankfully the Yankees won the World Series last fall so these kids can stop living their whole life in agony.

This is why I totally understand why other fans hate the Gophers and give us no sympathy.

I refuse to grow up.

With that in mind I think it would be a great idea to go to the USA/Canada World Junior Gold Medal game that is tomorrow night. USA USA USA

Who is up for a Rep Lodge road trip to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan? Just think. Take the invasion to a different country. They wouldn't know what hit them. :D

USA USA USA
That would be awesome.

The fact that the holidays are over is really depressing. :(
Not for me; it means the Christmas rush is over with and I have time to relax.

Good morning lodge. Last day in Mobile.

It is amazing how many students don't get this (or are content with crappy grades).
Exactly. During my first semester at NMU, i skipped a good lot of my Existentialism classes and wondered why I wasn't understanding the material. Finally the light came on, I started to go to class, and I pulled my grade up from a D- to a C+. I also learned to use all the help I could get, from study groups to meeting with professors during office hours. In the end, I graduated with a 3.01 GPA and was on the Dean's List for my last three semesters. (GPA >3.25). Had I put forth the effort the entire time, I could have graduated with honors.

In Existentialism? Would that get you a job as a cashier at Sam's instead of a demonstrator? :p

I am excited. I started using the ignore feature today. Not for anyone terrible, just for someone annoying/boring. The annoying/amusing people I enjoy reading posts from.
