JFC. You should have been on 75. Passable in parts, absolute **** in others.

When I hit Saginaw County, however, it was a whole new ballgame. You see, their road commission has decided that they are not working any overtime or off-shift hours. Pretty much glare ice from there.

Yeah, I was probably pretty fortunate that 94 between Detroit and Ann Arbor is pretty well traveled. It probably got pretty bad for you once you got to about the northern burbs of the Detroit Metro Area.

Evening, Lodge. Hope everyone has a fun, festive, and safe New Year!

Walked into work today to learn that one of our demo ladies died this morning. We're all pretty broken up about it, and it was a miracle that we got through today with only one person leaving early. :(

So, knowledgeable Lodge. Question. In your opinion, does it benefit a college student to live away from their parents?

Absolutely. That way you're truly in college and can truly go through the college experience, instead of it being like a 13th grade on a larger scale.

It's hard to truly go deeper than that, but anyone one who goes away to college knows exactly what I'm talking about. You learn more outside the classroom than you do in it.

As a downstate transplant, I'd say yes. That's part of why my parents were so happy to have me go to Tech; I'd have to learn how to survive on my own (railroading ResLife coordinators hell-bent on throwing you out of the dorm to shirk their duty notwithstanding.) You'd be surprised at the things a lot of students need to learn just because they always had their parents do it, self included.

What helps even more is moving out of the dorms and into a house (which you've already laid the groundwork for with your sorority.) It's money you have to come up with right away as opposed to getting through a loan, but it will chop your college costs in half.

Merry New Year!! Ha.....ha......ha.....! :D Eddie Murphy is awesome.

Absolutely, Hammer nailed it. Great transition into learning how to me self sufficient - doing laundry, meals if you're not in a dorm, problem solving, etc.

Couldn't agree more. Some of the best advice I got when I was looking at colleges was to look for a place thats close enough to go home for the weekend, but far enough that your parents wouldn't want to drive up to there on a weekday. Its a good distance there that wouldn't totally cut you off from all of your old support network, but its enough where you do have to learn how to swim for yourself, and make new friends, and all of that good stuff.

comes down to one question...

are you still breast feeding? if yes, stay home. if no, move out.

You youngsters fail life!

Watch this.

Ah. My parents wouldn't let me watch MTV back in those days. Meaning I missed out on Remote Control, The State, Beavis and Butthead...you know, all the cool stuff.

Around the late 90s they started to relent, in time for me to catch Daria, Sifl and Olly, etc.

So apparently some of the Tech hockey players are going to be at the party I'm going to tonight. I really hope I don't ***** them out too much if I'm drunk.. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

First time on the new blades earlier today, I like them. :) Saw Jack Morris at the Roseville Oval & told him a bunch of geeks on a hockey message board didn't think he should be in the HOF. He cried. ;)

MN & ISU should play football every year, the match up well. ;)

You're going to a party with hockey players and you're going be drunk...they aren't going to care what's coming out of your mouth....

And they probably have a sneaking suspicion they are a really bad team. ;)
