... O Lodge, deliver your sage advice unto me.

Might need it blessed by a priest. Does MTU have a father who assists with the hockey program like NMU and LSSU do? You may want to see him about it. I know NMU used to have Father Cappo bless the team a few years back before the season would start.

Morning Lodge. I skimmed the whole trade scenario posts. Anyone want to tell me who I'm supposed be rooting for before the Mariucci Classic starts this weekend? :p :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

But ST is visiting tomorrow, so :D
awwwwwww yayyyyyyyy :D :) ;)

Okay, that's the end of that. :p

:)

Yay! Finally, I have been up early enough to get a personalized "good morning" from ralph!

Highlight of the morning: the girl pretending like she was stripping when TSA asked her to take off her belt...

I doubt that it was worth it. :D

He's actually been waiting for that Ralph, so I'm pretty sure you might have just made his day lol.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Fixed.

Stupid work tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be dead enough where I can get out mid-afternoon. Then it's hellooooooo whiskey, a couple friends, and "Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus!"
Best. Worst. Movie. Ever. :D
I just got back from the hospital after picking up the CD with my MRI test to take to Dr. Barker. I also got a printout of the last two radiology reports. There are a lot of big words but the bottom line: The tumor hasn't remained the same size.

It's actually shrinking. :)

In my first MRI last February it was still 2.1x2.1x2.2cm (9.7 cubic centimeters). By June it had shrunk to 2.2x2.2x1.4cm and now is down to 2.2x1.9x1.2cm (5.02 cubic cm). This is better news than I had dared hope. If it continues to shrink I'm wondering if it might be possible to just nuke it and avoid a second surgery. That's beyond my wildest dreams, and I think given its location surgery may still be needed...but maybe. I am reminded of Gene Hackman in Hoosiers when he tells the team, "That's beyond your imaginations...let's just keep it there."

It's been a long time since I've had really good news. I've been unsuccessfully holding back tears of joy since I read this report.
:D :D :D and that doesn't even begin to express my feelings!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! thursty thursdy is here.

Awfully crowded in here this morning. Getting ready to go to the funeral. Snow predicted. Lots of older, unsteady people going (MIL was 85 and still going very strong until recently) to be there. Hope they all stay upright.:(
Hang in there, les!!

Morning, all. Chilly here in NH!!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Happy Last Day of 2009 Lodge. Still feeling like crap. Got a headache yesterday, went to bed early, got woken up at 4am by noisy neighbors upstairs walking with shoes/heels on hardwood floors. I whacked the ceiling once. Seriously....TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF!! Grrrr!! So, I slept in as late as I could this morning. I'm not going to do anything today. I have plans to go over my friend's house tonight and I don't want to feel crappy, so I may take a nap or two this afternoon. We're due to get some snow this afternoon, which hopefully will end before I have to go out. Thank God I had this week off of work.

Oooooh - there's a Burn Notice marathon on today. I can watch that!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

My wife and I had a terrific time last night. We went out to celebrate her birthday. Mrs. Shot's favorite singer--Barbara Morrison--was in town at our favorite jazz club. I took us there for dinner and the early show. [Fantastic quartet with Jeff Jenkins on piano, Ken Walker on bass, Paul Romaine on drums and the incomparable Houston Person on tenor sax].

At one point while introducing a song, Barbara Morrison asked the crowd if any couple was celebrating an anniversary. No one raised a hand. She then asked if anyone was celebrating a birthday. I raised my hand and pointed to my wife. Barbara and her band serenaded my wife with a chorus of "Happy Birthday."

Later in the evening as we were exiting the club we passed Barbara on our way out. She stopped us, gave my wife a big hug and handed Mrs. Shot a copy of her current CD.

Wonderful food, great wine, superb entertainment and recognition by Barbara Morrison and her quartet of Mrs. Shot's birthday. Just a great night.

We'll be staying home this evening, but for those posters going out and about please be safe. Happy New Year! :)

Getting engaged. Definite highlight. :)

Be proud folks, we chanted "F-ck you Sparty!" at the Post Bar after an unreal amount of boozing. The Sparty fan girl at the bar punched me for it. Girls are fun when they flirt that way.

I hope you donkey-punched her later. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Tonight at the GLI an awful truth surfaced that I feel I must call to your attention.

Michigan Tech was losing 3-1 at the start of the third period when nature called for me. While answering said call, Tech scored and made the game 3-2. Upon my return to my seat, I was soundly dismissed by the Misfits and Pep Band in attendance, as they believed this to be a direct result of my infamous "GLI curse." Their admonishments proved not to be in vain, as within two minutes Michigan scored to make the game 4-2. It was at this point that I hatched a plan: I would remove the hot dog hat I am quite well known for in hopes of tricking the hockey gods into thinking I was not there. Amazingly, the plan worked, as Tech promptly made it 4-3 and made a battle of the rest of the game.

Thus, it is with a heavy heart that I say that the curse of Michigan Tech hockey lies in my hot dog hat.

Indeed, something must be done to alleviate this curse. The offending hat could conceivably be locked in a vault and buried, or put in a museum or a big warehouse like the end of Indiana Jones. However, this would rob me of the crux of my identity as a college hockey fan. It would also prevent me from using the hat to win the attention of the fairer sex, as I did tonight. O Lodge, deliver your sage advice unto me.

If Tech fans buried or burned all the clothes they've worn duing Tech loses all Tech fans would be left with no clothes and would have to go to games naked.

Nobody and I mean NOBODY wants to see that.

I'm going to agree with this assessment.

I try to take the Martin Brodeur approach to hockey games - I have no 'rituals' and no superstitions, I just accept what happens and attempt to move on.

Which team's jersey were you wearing? Hopefully, it was Bemidji's. ;)
