Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

Found a job posting online that I think I'd be awesome at. I meet 2 out of the 6 listed requirements. Another 3 I meet partially (5 yrs experience, not 7. Passed my Six Sigma class and have applied topics, but never bothered with certification. Not really in a manager role, but have managed a few people). The other requirement I don't meet at all......but I learn quickly.

I'll apply to the job...what's the worst that can happen, I get a FOAD letter, or no response at all?

Is it better for me to just address each requirement in my cover letter and state how I partially meet it, or the one I don't meet explain I can learn quickly?

One good thing is, a manager from my current company now works at this company and I know she had a high opinion of me when she worked here, so I may be able to get a good recommendation.
Its worth a shot. Beats dealing with your current crappy job.

BPH, Same thing here in Denver. On Thanksgiving Day the temp hit 73 degrees on our way down to where we gathered for our holiday meal. The forecast is calling for light snow on Wednesday. My wife and I will be in Denver this coming weekend, but in Breck and Vail the weekend after that for some skiing. We've also saved some vacation time for the stretch from just before Christmas to just before NYD. We usually spend Christmas in the mountains so, quite literally, we have a White Christmas. I hope yours turns out that way as well.
Have only seen a dusting around here, and most of that was friday out in the Irish hills that didn't last that long at all.

In other news, my dad is getting admitted for emergency surgery!!! Hooray!! (sarcastic hooray)

He should be fine, but its been a tough year, I like to worry and he is a parapalegic which just adds all sorts of fun to any sort of medical procedure and I am not sure which hospital he is at (some VA either JP or West Roxbury of course no place close like Brockton).

I am ready for 2010, i have been ready since like may.
Yeah, this year can't get over with fast enough....

Evenin' Lodge!

Thats not likely to be anytime soon.

Heh I figured, but you never know.

Got my first broomball action tonight in the league I play in down here. 6-0 loss, mainly due to being a low skilled team overall, and not real responsible defensively. It will be a long season again. Last winter? 3 goals for, 0-fer wins on the season. Could be a lot of drinking on Tuesday nights next semester.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

So Lodge, I need some serious advice.

As most of you know I've been pledging at a sorority for the past 8 weeks...
We're almost done (1-2 weeks left) but I don't know if I want to do it anymore.
The time commitment's been huge. I've missed >half of our home hockey games because of it(more than I missed last year at all when I wasn't even a student)
I never see my family anymore, it's a financial burden..

If I quit, 24 girls are going to despise me, and most of the Greek community will greatly dislike me...
No frat parties for me, no "sisterhood"...

What it would mean: I'd have an extra 10+ hrs/week, I'd be less stressed, I'd be able to be a true hockey fan again.

What do you guys think?

Oh balls. Don't say that. I only have 6 months of my 20s left. :(

30 was okay. 31 was bland. 32 was good. 33 was awesome. 34 is okay so far, but I have about 7 months to finalize that rating.

You tried it and it's not fun. Why keep doing something that you don't like?

Having been in a frat (community service frat, not total doosh frat), this excerpt from your post is all you need to know about what I think.

Between the Pep Band and the Misfits, would you really be lacking for things to do on a weekend??

You were a Triangle? :)
Or wait, maybe that's not what they are.
I think you may be right though. At this point, it's looking as if you might not even see me next weekend. :/

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

The last thing I want to do while watching TV is listen to people eat food - one of the worst noises EVER.

You said it, friend. Same goes for radio. Anytime someone has a soft drink in a radio ad, you have to listen to the whole set-up:

Psssht!
Pour! Pour! Pour!
Fizzzzzzzz.

Then:

Ulp! Ulp! Ulp! Ahhhhhh!!!!

--shudder!!!--

Alpha Phi Omega. And one of the last chapters to be all male. Our official excuse? Tradition. Our real excuse? More road trips to the co-ed chapters. :D

And you'll be there next weekend. PredaBandit better not fail us. He knows what we are like when we melt down and/or are angry. ;)
