Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

You're a terrible person. :p
I actually refuse to cook. The last thing I tried to "cook" was popcorn in the microwave and I burnt it. PB then realized that me cooking was a terrible idea.

I really enjoy cooking. In the g household I probably prepare 80% of the meals. Tonight I am preparing beef tendrloin with portabello mushrooms and wild rice. (The little g's don't eat typical little kids food very often.)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

HN and I will be heading over to his parents' Thursday. A much smaller affair this year, unfortunately. Last year there were probably 25-30; this year, it sounds like 10.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Deep fried turkey still sounds delicious, but we haven't been able to justify a deep fryer. :o One of these years we might have to smoke one, though.
My mom's family does a deep fried turkey for Thanksgiving, it is REALLY good!

My family's not big on "nontraditional" food. Scotch Pie is just about the only thing out of the ordinary we ever have. Though, I haven't really been home at all since I started in school, and starting next week, I won't be living here at all...

Really though, that's good that you're getting them more diversified in their eating habits early. I know for me, it was difficult once I began attending formal dinners and such, as I was used to "the norm" and didn't like trying new things at all. I've grown out of that since, but your kids'll be much better prepared.

We're heading over to my neighbor's this year. I would think two of her kids will be there as well as one's girlfriend. The other I'm not sure as she moved to Switzerland. Probably less then 10.

Probably the best move you'll ever make.

I agree with Hammer. The earlier you get them eating "weird" stuff (or rather, not bland stuff), the better off they'll be in the long run. Now, I out-eat my mom in the list of strange things I'll try (she wasn't big on live sea anemone or rattlesnake).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Ordinarily, I'd go along as well, but there's stuff at work I need to be on call for, and I also want to get a few winterizing projects wrapped up. WHat brings you to the northland?

DII feetsball. UMDuloot is going to destroy GVS again this year. I think they're going to make it an annual affair to replace the Lion's annual debacle. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

I won't be cooking because cooking is womens work.

I tried telling Mrs. Gonzo that tending the chickens was womens work. She said "as soon as you have a section to plant or a herd to wrangle and brand, I'll start tending to the chickens. Until then, you tend to your stupid chickens". :o
Although the fresh eggs are sure popular now that all the women folk are starting to bake and cook for the holidays

like they should ;)

Over the weekend we attended a wedding. During the social hour the waiters/waitresses walked around handing out all kinds of tasty treats. The little g's liked it all especially the shrimp cocktail.

The dinner wasn't your typical dinner. (for starters the wedding and dinner and dance was at a cave) Throughout the cave there were stations set up with various foods. At one station there was a mashed potato bar. Grab a martini glass and fill it up with mashed potatoes and all the toppings you could imagine. Unique and tasty.

Why do women get married in white?
So they match the kitchen appliances!

What have you done wrong when you wife comes out of the kitchen and starts nagging you? made the chain too long.

Why did the woman cross the road?
Wait, better question, why is she out of the kitchen!?

Why don't women wear watches?
There's a clock on the stove.

Why do women have short feet?
So they can stand closer to the stove.

Why dont women have a p enis?
So they can stand closer to the kitchen sink.

Why don't women need drivers licenses?
There is no road between the bedroom and the kitchen.

Why haven't any women ever gone to the moon?
It doesn't need cleaning yet

:) :p ;) :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

For Thanksgiving I think it will be just the four of us (parents, my sister and me). I wish it was more but it's the way my family is and there is nothing I can do about it. I've tried and it just blows up in my face.

You don't get to pick your family. Don't get me wrong I love them all. It just shouldn't be too much to ask for us to all put our differences aside in order to get together and have a great Thanksgiving or Christmas. There are relatives including some pretty close relatives who even live nearby that I haven't seen in 15-20 years. IMO that's quite sad. Life is too short to hold grudges.

On a more postive I am looking forward to seeing my sister for the first time in 6 months. She currently lives out east.

Heard a rumor Mrs.G is now lodge savvy. :p :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

FWIW g can cook.

So we should call you "Yan". :p

Rattlesnake isn't too bad, but I'd skip the sea anemone too. :o

And yeah - that does sound like a good idea. No letting kids only have chicken nuggets and crustless sandwiches, no matter how much they want them.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

and Merrimack, Ferris St. and Bemidji are good.
Notice all of Merrimacks wins are at home, their coach does a very good job running defensive systems that slow down faster teams. It is a small ice sheet, with not alot of room work the breakout. So by slowing a fast team, down, causing alot of turnovers they can win alot of their games at home. But them on a bigger sheet and they are not as good.

Jesus and I are bros.

We both hate Wisconsin. We both like the booze. We both have a bunch of friends who don't have jobs. We both were/are never married.
LOL

which one is that?!?!? the one on thursday that celebrates the destruction of Native Americans? Their culture? AND their homeland?!?!
What's a little small pox amoung friends?

Mornin' Lodge! ;)

Very short work week makes me happy! :)
i agree!!

but feel much better today and am looking forward to my intentional vacation this week, when tcbg and I are going to visit legal_hit for Thanksgiving! :D
Oh fun!!! I miss legal.....

I assume some/many/most/all LODEGONIANS will be scattering to the four winds later this week for Thanksgiving Day celebrations. Let me pose two questions before we go on our merry way: how many people will be attending the gathering at which you will be? Are you hosting the gathering or is someone else acting as host?
I will be not leaving the house, but we have the extended family coming over. Its going be a tough holidays with my grandmother gone, but at least we have (most) of the family willing to power through it. I think she would be happiest if we were all together.

We're also doing the Mile High Turkey Trot that morning. 4 mile run. Should take the guilt off.
I have a similar plan, but I opted for the 2 mile run instead of the 5 mile run this year considering I had surgery 2 weeks ago.

Yeah I hear you on that one. Alot of my family is really great, but some in particular really challenge that whole "love unconditionally" bit.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Good thing the computer in the g household is NOT in the kitchen. :D

You realize of course that sooner or later Les, huskyfan or other female Lodge members are going to read your posts and neg rep you into oblivion :D
You're lucky Mel is the best, and hasn't rocked you. Or maybe she's composing a reply as I post :p

The only reason I'm not in the kitchen right now is that someone in the house has to work.

I had a great weekend. Don't want to jinx it so I wouldn't go into details at this time. :)
Whatever it is, Good Luck!
