Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Well played. Very true.

Apparently your old age is kicking and your memory is fading. We've talked about this before. I'll give you a hint. I graduated from high school with a certain hockey player who

won Mr. Hockey in the state of Minnesota
played two years for the Gophers
played for the US in the olympics
scored the first ever regular season Wild home goal
played over 500 games in the NHL for the Leafs, Wild, Canucks and Avalance

If you don't know the player and the high school based on these clues

SIEVE SIEVE SIEVE to you
Richfield....?

I do know who the player is though...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Is that the stuff that has about five kinds of chocolate, and is injected with chocolate pudding?

Yeap. I'm not a huge chocolate fan so I could do without that much chocolate but it's still good. I really like the caramel and gooeyiness inside. This kind of cake is definitely not dry where you want ice cream. It's really rich so milk goes well with it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Never had much of a sweet tooth. So almost all candy has always been wasted on me. I would still go out on Halloween, but it was a competition with my friends to see who could get the most. My sister always ended up winning in the end, because I would inevitably give my candy to her a few days later.

One of my ex's mothers didn't like me because I didn't like chocolate. I felt lucky though, I saw what the people she "liked" had to go through. What a crazy *****.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

One additional clue. He is now retired from hockey and is on TV as part of Gopher and Wild TV broadcasts.

BTW, when I saw him last year at Mariucci getting ready to start the lead in I yelled at him Go (school name) class of (year) just to see what reaction I would get. He gave me a big smile but I doubt he remembers me from high school.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Didn't they change the law so that US 18, 19 and 20 year olds can't come to Canada and drink? I remember hearing about this, but don't know if it ever passed...

Ya, this either is not enforced, or never happened. I have a bunch of friends from back home who go over to Valleyfield, PQ to club/drink on a fairly regular basis that are underage. Same for Cornwall, ON as well. As long as you don't drive, it generally is never a problem or asked about by the Border Patrol.

Well, I'm biased because I've taken four trips "out west", but...if you do find yourself sober enough to strap in and go knuckledragging, I hear the weather plays a much greater role in how good things are "out east". Some years the snow is great, other years it can be really lean.

I'd get into perceived terrain differences (there are a lot more "gladed" or treed slopes out east), but from the sound of things you belong on the bunny hill anyway, along with all the other novice boarders learning the fine art of sitting on one's *** in the middle of a run and blocking everyone's path. :p

From what I've been told by some friends who have gone up to Tremblant, it's a pretty nice mountain, and probably top 5 in the East. Haven't been out west, but I agree with the "gladed" runs being pretty popular in the east.

Of course, nothing in the east compares with out west, and the only thing that beats the West is over across that pond called the Atlantic or something.

Gee, I should have remembered, but you just didn't seem that ghetto to me. :p

Did I tell you one of my former colleagues coached Darby as a peewee (and Dan too, and the goalie with the weird name)?

We buy extra ice time at Richfield since the association is so small over there that they don't use it all.

Oh I'm definitely ghetto. I grew up in south Minneapolis and went to Minneapolis schools untill my family moved when I was a freshmen in high school. The junior high I went to had all kinds of gangs and actually had a gang fight. True story. So you better shape up and do what you're told if you don't want trouble. ;)

No you didn't tell me this. I still have a tape of all three games when the team made it to State my senior year. If I get time this weekend I should watch it. Talk about a blast from the past.

As an alum it's quite sad.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Hilarious.

It's just funny reading that in a non-ECAC thread for once.
People from Edina are the original cake eaters, don't know where this ECAC stuff came from.
Richfield....?

I do know who the player is though...
Richfield is a rival of Edina? That's kinda like Tech being a rival with UND...

I really want to watch Ice Dreams again....best show ever.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

In all seriousness, are you going to either of the Gopher hockey games this weekend. If so come say Hi. I'll be the one wearing a Gopher hockey jersey. :p
Will you be in the Row that Golden is supposed to give sub coupons for?

Does in my dreams count? Oh Dam I've said too much. :D

So I guess I'll have to root for you to still have the crappy job then. :p

I'm sure I'll take a vacation to Canada at some point regardless it just would be nice to go with somebody especially one who is familiar with the area I'm visiting.
I am sure at some point me and WT will meet up, if I didnt have to screw out of regionals two years ago that owuld of been a good chance.

As for Canadia, I would love to go with you, just with the new job I will need to come back at least 3 times for weddings I have booked and I have a family vacation, and while my current job i have ways of acquiring extra time off (ok have fun with that one), it will be tough just starting out with a new one.

Quebec City is AWESOME even not during winter carnival, I just have never been to canival so I wanted to go this year, but I could possibly do a short trip in the summer.

Speaking of cake. Now that I'm back home I've been enjoying left over cake from my birthday that I froze. It's called Better then Sex cake. My ex made it. I disagree with the title but it is really good.

You know I am a big fan of cake, but I am trying to imagine how bad the sex would be for cake to be better than it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

My father's favorite personal hockey experience is when his breastbone was chipped.

My dad was a goalie way back in the day, eventually switching to defense. After high school he would still play a lot of pick up games and play as often as he could. He would usually end up being a goalie again, because he had the equipment, and not everyone could use it because he caught with his right hand.

His breastbone was chipped from a hard slapshot in the high slot by none other than Reed Larson.

Yeah that is definitely the case now but when I was a senior Richfield went 3-0 against Edina in hockey including beating them in the section final to make it to State. They were the favorite at state but got beat by Duluth East who won State that year.

At that time Richfield also had a good football team and would usually beat Edina. My freshmen year we were undefeated and ranked number 1 in the State before getting beat by Moorhead in the State quaterfinals. Moorhead went on and won State that year.

Cool story. If I remember correctly my father went to the same high school as Reed and use to hang out at the same outdoor staking rink as him. My father is older then Reed so I'm not sure if they really played hockey together.

yeah, tech used to be good too! :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

When I was in high school (yes, there were high schools way back then), Richfield was the #1 rival for Edina in hockey and football, and often in basketball. My senior year Braemar was packed for the game, way over the legal occupancy. There were fights in the lower parking lot after the game and several of my classmates got suspended for participating. A few years before that the Edina - Richfield game was for the mythical state title (no playoffs back then) - both were undefeated going in and Edina won.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

I've never really won anything at a Gopher hockey game but I do remember the time a Dad picked up his little daughter and put her in the empty seat in front of her because it was the row that won a gift certicate to a steakhouse. The look on her face was so cute. It was a look that said Dad why are you making me seat away from you. After the dad say the look he tried to reassure and say no it's ok just sit there for awhile so she/he could get the gift certicate.

A friend one time won a year supply of sausage. Yeah that caused a few jokes. Such as are you going to share your meat?

That might work.

While the cake is good sex is definitely better atleast that's been my experience. Hence the reason I said I disagree with the title.
