Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

It depends upon who's making the pizza as to the type of crust I want.

Although, I'll take a Red's Savoy over all others I've had, so I guess the default choice would be thn crust for me.

Many of you know the story behind little g. To make a long story short little g has made the short list in regards to a stem cell procedure. Please say a prayer that he makes the list.
Will do.

My flight from Pittsburgh to Minneapolis this morning included the Robert Morris men's hockey team, who were on their way to Bemidji. That was kind of neat.
Cool!

Can't help it. When you get back from the store at 5:45, add in 15 minutes of prep, and it takes 2 - 2 1/2 hours, you're at 8:30. Here we go:

1 1/2 pounds stew meat/chopped round steak
5-6 small potatoes (I use redskins)
1 can Campbells' tomato soup
~1 lb carrots
1 Small can (8 oz) peas, drained
1 Small can (6 oz) mushrooms, drained
1 beer (yes, you read that correctly. 1 beer. Your choice of brand)
2 tsp oregano

Preheat oven to 300. Cut the potatoes into quarters and chop the carrots. Combine and stir everything (including the beer and the tomato soup) except for the peas and mushrooms (I ****ed up this last part. I put everything in the dish) in a big dish, at least a 3 Qt dish. Cover and put in oven for 2 hours. Add peas and mushrooms and bake for another 30 minutes. Grab some rolls to go with, throw on a plate and commence eating. Feeds 4-6.

I would rather have the beef stew. yum..
I would too! I've had my fill of chicken...

Evening, Lodge. Finally convinced my family to add the sports package to our digital cable today; all I need now is a fridge stocked with booze and sandwiches and I'll be all set.

*sigh*

Now that NMUers have had their semi-annual fill of boot_walt_kyle, it's apparently time for the MTUers to enjoy the next round of "Fire Russell!" opinions from John Scott Rocks.

That sounds quick and tasty, though I'd use frozen peas. I've never liked the flavor of most canned vegetables.

I've never really liked canned veggies.

And for frozen veggies, those Steamers (Bird's Eye or Green Giant or something, I can't remember) are decent (cook 5 minutes in the bag, and they are done).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

I actually saw about half the pizza places people mentioned while en route to a restaurant near Uptown tonight, it was kind of bizarre. I'm also apparently not used to dining in large groups, because the idea of getting "one of everything" off the menu is foreign to me, let alone trying to decide if you should get one or two of everything  .

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

Is that the one where the father of Ferris Bueller's college girlfriend is a mob boss?

yes. matthew broderick and marlon brando. with the always hot, never mentioned penelope ann miller.

throw in bruno kirby, kenneth welsh, and bert parks:eek: ! winner, winner, chicken dinner.;)

oh, and penelope ann miller is hot. (well was. this was 20 yrs ago almost:cool: ) her in other peoples money... yaaaaa-oh-zaaa!!

Actually, I had my camera with me. Didn't even think to take a picture though. Sorry boys.

What he said ^

Good luck lil g!!! :)

Yeah. The thin crust dominates in the upper midwest, sadly. If you don't mind chains, Old Chicago has decent deep dish. I'm a fan of a pizza place on the west side of town (Plymouth) called Latuff's. They just moved across hwy 55 to the north side. They've been around forever.
I like Latuff's. We had it quite a bit in HS as his son was in my class.

There's also The Green Mill.
(re:Chicago pizza: The whole sauce-on-the-top thing still takes getting used to.) (But a Chicago hot dog? That's the way to go. )
Agree with the sauce on top thing. I also don't like tomatos so the chunkiness of the sauce ruins that kind of deep dish for me.
Latuff's is not good pizza. Sorry, it's just not.
You're wrong. Sorry, you just are. :p

Baracco's is the best I've ever had (Chicago...not deep dish). Also a fan of Green Mill, Old Chicago, Deek's (Grand Forks), Popolino's (Grand Forks), Domino's, Pizza Hut, and Davanni's. It's been a long time since I've had Braodway and I've never had Red Savoy. I should get them sometime soon.

You guys are making me hungry. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

Wanna know how I know...?

The veggie steamers aren't too bad, but plain frozen ones are nearly as good for a lot less.

For liking fettucini alfredo? Dude, the sauce is one of the most unhealthy things on the planet! That makes it manly. :p

True. I like the extra sweet corn. Of course I douse it in butter and salt after cooking it. :D

And Latuff's is TOO greasy. We discussed this not too long ago. I never thought I would say it, but there such a thing as too much grease, and Latuff's defines that. I mean it's pizza, so it's good be default, but on a pizza scale, it's not good.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

Discovered the sauna at the hotel in Denver.

I can't believe I didn't do this more often at Tech. I feel farking orgasmic right now. (Do I leave the low hanging fastball...yyyyyeah.)

Also, the dry spots on my knuckles (I'm talking cracking and bleeding) are all but gone.

Do the sauna for a few minutes, then either run outside or jump into the pool. Full sprint until you hit the water/outside air. :D

I can't do saunas. :( Hot tubs, though? Booyah. Gimme 107-108 degrees, about an hour or so. Heavenly.

Sauna's are alright, but if I have the option, I would take the Steamroom all time. Had a pass to work out at the Mission Point Exercise room when I worked up on Mackinaw Island. After a long shift of cleaning up after the Fudgies, would pedel over there, do a quick lift workout, they really didn't have a whole lot of gear there, then usually hit the steamroom there to just sweat out all the gunk that was in me that day. Go hit the showers and then leave there feeling like a Million bucks.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

I wish I wasn't tired. Just rocked at a trivia site I'm on. 34K out of 36K possible, and I totally messed up one question (should've known it, changed my first choice at the last minute). Obviously I won, but still......

Edit: it's NTN style, with 1000 poss for each question, and decreasing points for waiting, zero for wrong answer.
