Drive by from the National Gallery. So far so good in DC...
We went there when we were in DC. Most boring 2 hours of my life. You know what 8th graders do when they get that bored? Stay on your feet Mr. Chaperone!

I never made out in an art gallery before! I must be missing out...where's that boyfriend?

@gmann re:rep - Thanks. I nearly tossed in the towel today, which while financially feasible, would not be prudent. A little encouragement is always appreciated.

@Bob - I briefly considered doing that as well as my phone number.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 86: Noobs, Halloween, and Pumpkins, oh my!

and you didn't take them to the spy museum across the street... that's just cold ;)
You have the wrong art museum. The National Gallery is on the Mall between 4th and 7th Streets with the new building east of 4th Street. The building that you are thinking of houses the Museum of American Art and the National Portrait Gallery.

Of course, the Spy Musum cost money to get in while the National Gallery of Art is free (as are the other two that I named). :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 86: Noobs, Halloween, and Pumpkins, oh my!

Maybe a crew of us could road trip...if enough people from the twin cities want to go. Shirtless guy has mentioned it...is BPH interested? BPH, paging BPH...:p
I'm trying to figure out plans for GLI now, if I'm going to drive I'll probably have to take more time off work, so I might have to shift some days around. I'd much rather just fly, but it would be much cheaper to drive, especially if there is a crew of people.

I'd be up for it, except that there's a better than even chance I'm going up to see the lady afterwards. If I can figure out some way to accomplish that while not stiffing people on a ride back, then sure.

I can't wait until January...*sigh*
Away from here...

Good luck! (and try not to get caught on too many security cameras in that gallery)

Afternoon, Lodge. The weather's shyte outside, and it looks like it'll follow me north this weekend and turn into snow. Joy.

That was my opinion too when I visited soon after I moved here. I have had to go back several times when people visited. The only time I went willingly was when there was an exhibiton of Escher's drawings in the new building.

OTOH, the Portrait Gallery, which has all of the official presidential portraits, I found moderately interesting.

You know somebody named Pork Loin Butterfly Chops?

gmann, regarding your rep, face it, all the teams for which you root are headed to the equivalent of the Target/Bud Light/GMAC/Weedwhacker Bowl. The TPups and The Mild? I didn't realize you guys had cornered the market on minor league teams.

In advance of the Avs' victory later today, I had a look in this morning's Denver Post at some of the +/- figures for players on the Mild's roster. Absolutely brutal. What....a week and a half into the season and some guy is already a minus 9? Why isn't his a/s/s on a bus to the ECHL? Oh, I see, he's the team's best defenseman.

bloodshed

Or so you think.
You've only seen me once, maybe I had my blonde teenage Yooper costume on.

That might be more disturbing.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 86: Noobs, Halloween, and Pumpkins, oh my!

serious post coming here...

one of my former Boy Scout troop leaders was arrested for alleged sexual assault. I was never assaulted but am very sad to hear this. :(

It's funny you should mention that - on my first date with tcbg we went to an art museum. There was a desk that when closed looked like an insect and when open, looked like a desk. I went to close it to see what the insect part looked like and was stopped by a security guard who asked me not to touch the art.
:o

An aunt, to whom my wife was very close, died last night after a lengthy illness. Funeral arrangemnets are still pending, but we're likely headed to the Phoenix area later this week.
