Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

Hey, I was going to ask you a couple days ago since you're kind of a history buff like I am, and probably know more than I do. I have a cardboard box full of land deeds, receipts, returned checks, letters from europe, and a whole bunch of other miscellaneous stuff from about 1875 to 1930, all belonging to one family. Do you think any of this stuff has historical significance? Is it valuable? The guy I got it from (the one we're helping get ready for an auction) was just going to burn it, and I thought there might be some historical significance, so I asked if I could keep it and look through the papers.

YES. Thanks for not letting him burn it!

Most of the significance would be to the local community, so I'd send the Goodhue County Historical Society a note or call them some day. They seem like they have a decent-sized collection, and this box would probably be something useful, especially since it sounds like a fairly well-off family. I'd also check with the Minnesota Historical Society if Goodhue isn't interested... let me know, and I can look up a collections department person for you to contact. Definitely Goodhue first though - they'll talk to the family and see if there's anything particularly sensitive they ought not to donate.

I can't really say if it's valuable dollar-wise... you probably won't get cash for most of the things, if that's what you're wondering :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

Good morning Lodge.

For those of you keeping score at home regarding my in laws. Around 2 AM this morning I get a text from my bil. The text was sent to me by mistake but content of the text was about me and the verbiage was nasty. I get a nother text begging me to ignore previous text. He is stopping by my office this morning and I am sure his tail will be between his legs. However, the other shoe is about to drop, the gloves are off and he is going to regret f' ing with me.
Well, how about letting us see the text so we can all mock the BIL, or even send him random texts at 3 in the morning as well?? ;) :D

I have my reasons for wanting to meet with him as early as possible. Let's just say it was icing on the cake. ;)

(Big picture - my fil and mil think bil is a saint and about as perfect as perfect can get. fil and mil have been supporting bil in numerous ways which have enabled bil to get into the mess he his currently in. Mrs. g and myself have confronted all parties with solid facts contradicting/calling out all parties only to have bil lie and come out looking better than before therefore making me and Mrs. g look like the bad guys.)

The meeting is over. I won't go into specific details but as unfortunate/disappointing as this situation is I definitely got my point across with tact and taking the high road. bil confessed to every issue that mil/fil refuse to ackowledge or have covered up. Furthermore, I ended the conversation by asking my mil/fil if they had anything to comment on as I had them on speakerphone without bil knowing they were on and without mil/fil knowing what bil had done. Wham! Don't f with g.
   HOLY CRAP DUDE!!!
I rolled the dice. I called fil a couple seconds before getting bil in my office and asked him to hang tight for a bit. I then turned the phone volume to off not to be confused with mute so if they spoke up we could not hear them. Nobody had time to question anything. From bil vantage point the phone is hidden behind my pc monitor. When my conversation with bil ended I then turned up the volume on my phone. I had no idea if there would be anybody on the other end. Thankfully they didn't hang up or I would have ended up looking like a huge dumbass. MacGyver would have been proud. :p
Yeah, that was rather freakin' brilliant there Gmann.
Apologize? I was hoping you'd post it to YouTube! :)
Yeah, the look on BIL's face when he realized that his father and mother were listening in must have been really priceless. :D

While biking I stopped off here today http://www.lolacookies.com/. I have now learned that one shouldn't eat cupcakes while bike riding, especially chocolate ones with chocolate frosting.

One is never too old to learn new things. :D
Almost like how one shouldn't eat a half pound of fudge before biking around Mackinaw Island. Lots of soiled undies have been found due to that. :D

Looking through your wallet and finding an extra 20 is a good feeling.
That or pulling a jacket or coat out of the closet and finding some money left in that. Always a good thing.

You just want to touch her naked body. Don't be so obvious. :p ;)
Its called advertizing my services. ;) :p Besides, she would be all covered up and I wouldn't get to see any of the fun parts.
What did I miss?
I've resently started studying to become a massage therapist. I'll assume that I can book you for an appointment around the FF. ;)

Thanks for the info.

I wasn't planning on getting any cash for it, except for a couple things in there that I found, that aren't personal stuff, the might be valuable, like a 1923 Ford Motor Company Parts Catalog/price list, in perfect condition. I thought that might be worth something. I don't think there is any family considerations to worry about as I'm 99% sure that the last people in that family were 2 sisters that never married and never had kids, that died when I was younger.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

Uncle had to turn down a promotion today. If he had accepted, he would have been paid just enough that he would owe much more in child support. His take-home would actually go down significantly.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

For horses? If so, I hope you do not offer them "happy endings". :D :p ;) :)

Good luck!

:p For Humans you career monkey wrangler!!!

Although I might dabble in equestrain massage a bit as well. Whole lot less overhead for me to work on horses. Just need to have my hands.

Now that is cool. Have you ever been to Little Dearborn on Washington Avenue, near the U? They might be interested in the catalog, or give you a better idea of how much it's worth.

Why do ya think he got kicked in the head? ;)turns out horses don't respond well to "Where's my money, *****??"

I wasn't kicked, it struck me in the head after rearing up with its teeth. :p

And FYI, the wound has just about healed over now. just a little bit of scab left.

Sad to say (and based on experience) that will probably happen.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

just got this thing in the mail for delivery from all kinds of places (sort of like a campusfood but even more extreme)... the idea of ordering pancakes straight from my bed after a night out sounds awesome.

Tune in for next week's episode when gmann sets up a conference call between: Lewis P, L'il, L'il's former coach, the owner of L'il's former junior league and a close associate of gmann's named Guido.

gmann dials and hilarity ensues. Fun for the whole family. The Office Monkeys will perform at halftime. Rated: G. Check your local listings for date and time of the call. :D

 Burn it- AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! that would be sacrilege. Call the local historical society. If they don't want it there are other places that would take it.

I found out we sell machetes at work, which I find really *ing odd (we're industrial supply, non-retail). Maybe one of those will help?
