Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Morning Lodge

This late sunrise/early sunset is already starting to get to me. I can hardly wait for the next solstice. :(
Me too. TIme to start the vitamin D

Good morning Lodge.

For those of you keeping score at home, new pics/update on little g's Caring Bridge site.
Wow- the first pic he looks so grown up. The one he is standing- end of the first page- amazing trunk control!!

Thanks. Little g has moderate to severe loss in his right ear. Left ear is fine. He is three years old and more times than not he doesn't like to wear it. Given that the hearing aid is NOT a cheap device we really have to monitor him so it does not get lost.

We carry extra batteries and are becoming experts on keeping it clean. :)
Reward for initiating using it and keeping it in without whining- Extra priviledge that he likes. We used to do that for stuff l'il hated. He wanted the stuff he wanted so bad he would initiate the activity so he could get the reward. Eventually he forgot to hate the thing he was rewarded for

I wish I'd swallowed my Guinness a little more thoroughly before clicking that link. I had a really hard time not spewing it everywhere

Awesome :D :D :D

:D

girl goes and takes pictures of the kids and her with the kids all the time... i come home one night and see that. so i think.... and remembering i took passport photos a year and a half ago - i trim one up and stick it under the glass and hang it back up. nobody is the wiser.

i forget all about it until a couple weeks later i hear, "BAH HAHAHAHAHHAHA!!! when did you do this?!!?"

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

We must be getting close to hockey season.

Thank God!
Yes! Thank God, YES!

I'm surprized that you didn't rattle off the Cubs because they've won a world Series within your lifetime. ;) :D

Teams that I cheer for that have won the title within my life time.....
Detroit Red Wings: 1997, 1998, 2002, 2008,
Detroit Pistons: 1989, 1990, 2004
Detroit Tigers: 1984
Michigan State Basketball:2000
Michigan Football:1997* (*Not a true championship, but Michigan was that good that year and we all know that Nebraska's Championship that year was a big retirement gift for Osborne.)
Your list is **** near identical to mine, and I'll add:

NMU Hockey: 1991
Muskegon HS football: 1991, 2004, 06, 08

Evening, Lodge. Made ratatouille with feta cheese and brown rice for dinner; other than that, I did nothing, and it was what I thought it would be.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

let's see...teams that have won a championship in my lifetime:

UND Hockey x 3 (87, 97, 01)
UND Football x 1 (2001)
Minnesota Twins x 2 (87, 91)
High school girls soccer (1999)

Yay. :)

edit: Mark Allen won the Ironman in Hawaii a lot. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Twins, Gophers, Devils, Celtics (back in the day with The Big Three, not a bball fan now) for championships.

Still yet to get one:

North Stars :( (I know, but still had to mention them)
Cubs
Bills

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Sox as in Red
Bruins (when I was a kid in the 60s- I lost a tooth when Bobby Orr scored)
UML XC team winning nationals (of course when I wan't there!!)
Celtics (don't care but they were big)
Patriots (ditto)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

My teams that have won a championship in my lifetime...

Green Bay Packers
Detroit Red Wings
Detroit Pistons
Michigan Football (I think)
Calumet High hockey (times 3 or 4, maybe 5)

Have not:
MTU football
MTU hockey
Detroit Tigers

Borderline:
CHS Volleyball
They were the state runners-up, and the only UP team to ever make it past QF's in any division. Furthermore, I'm just as proud.

I have to admit, being a fan of Ortiz/Youk, and a former fan of Damon (until he turned to the Dark Side), I liked the Sox WS title.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

I like that it's the time of year where we get to relive all of the rep points I scored when we were maxing :D

Not really, You removed some of my favorates. I was quite fond of the GVSU's Women's basketball championship. Had a real nice time down there in Arkansas with the GV pep band and the Girls, laughed my *** off along with some St. Cloud State fans that were down there as well as Minnesota proceeded to lose to Holy Cross in the Ralph, and was honored by the team itself to receive part of the nets they got to cut down there in Hot Springs. :) Truthfully though, I had taken that time off of work with the idea of going to the regional that weekend in Grand Forks, but it worked out great for that weekend as well. :D
