Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

New York Yankees: 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 (fandom ceased when I moved to Boston in 2002)

Boston Red Sox (became a fan in April, 2002 when I went to my first Sox game): 2004, 2007

So much bogus-ness here. Just patently ridiculous.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Wally, you can arm wrestle sloe gin to see who can drive the bandwagons short bus to all my ttp's this year. The loser will be on the outside looking in at all the festivities. :p

all the ttp's you're going to have this year??, TF, I'd guess they'll be room for both of us:p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Won a title in my lifetime:

Twins, '87, '91
Gopher Hockey, '02, '03

Have not in my lifetime (Most recent one if they have won in the past):

Vikings
North Stars/Wild
Gopher Baseball ('64)
Gopher Football ('60)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

All the teams that I am a fan of have won in my lifetime.

NY Yankees
NY Rangers
NY Giants
RPI hockey

Edit:
Sadly, so have several of the teams that I despise.
Washington Redskins
NY Jets
NY Mets
NY Islanders

But not Clarkson hockey or Union hockey. :D I don't really have that much of a hate for the Red Sox, and I am neutral to the Washington Caps and Nats..

Wow, you might be beating TBA for teams that you follow for no apparent reason. Why not just pick good teams at random and cheer for them - oh wait, that's what you do. :p
2 teams is "picking all the good teams at random"? :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

In my championship count I only counted pro teams. Including non pro championships..........

BSU men's hockey: 1971,1973,1979,1980,1984,1986,1993,1994,1995,1997, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015. Of which I was present for all games from 1979 on. :)

Um, division six college hockey don't count.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Teams that have not...

North Stars :(
Wild
Sabres
Vikings
Oklahoma football (started the year of the Boise St. loss...not sure why, but I know I continue to because it gets on the nerves of a friend who is an OK St. fan, having AP as a Viking helps too).

Won a title in my lifetime:

Have not in my lifetime (Most recent one if they have won in the past):

Vikings
North Stars/Wild
Gopher Baseball ('64)
Gopher Football ('60)

And that's why I quit caring about the Vikings in 1998. I'll not let any sports team get to me like that any longer.

OTOH, IF the Vikings ever do win it all. I will take the headline from the Strib the next day and lay it near my dad's tombstone. I'm surprised "the big one" didn't happen while he was watching the Vikes from 1961-1985. Man he loved those guys :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Sorry I didn't know you went to Notre Dame, Oklahoma and CSF, or that you lived in Buffalo. :p
My whole family are ND fans. My dad is from the Chicago area and they grew up cheering for Notre Dame like every other Irish Catholic family in the area. And I do have an uncle that went to school there...

I became a Sabres fan when the North Stars left, and that's hardly cherry-picking a winning team...:p

The other two have more to do with the fact that I ended up watching a lot of their games and eventually found myself cheering for them and following them...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

My teams that haven't won a championship in my lifetime:
-Michigan Tech hockey (and football)
-Minnesota Vikings
-Minnesota Wild (didn't start following professional hockey until after the North Stars anyway)
-soon to be following Augsburg College hockey - hey, everyone needs a D-III team to root for, and I'm not used to winners. :o

Teams that have:
-Minnesota Twins
-Centennial HS Hockey (state champs)

Afternoon, Lodge. Spent the morning playing scrap dealer at the streetcar museum.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Before someone says something...I never followed any Gopher sports other then hockey, which I stopped to follow a higher calling of being a Sioux fan. :D

EDIT: If we're going to go HS too...add BSM hockey and soccer to the list. :)

I'm surprized that you didn't rattle off the Cubs because they've won a world Series within your lifetime. ;) :D

Teams that I cheer for that have won the title within my life time.....
Grand Valley Football:2002,2003,2005, 2006,.....
Grand Valley Volleyball:2005,
Grand Valley Women's Basketball: 2006,
Detroit Red Wings: 1997, 1998, 2002, 2008,
Detroit Pistons: 1989,1990, 2004,
Detroit Tigers: 1984,
Michigan State Basketball:2000, (1979 if you believe life begins at conception);)
Michigan Football:1997* (*Not a true championship, but Michigan was that good that year and we all know that Nebraska's Championship that year was a big retirement gift for Osborne.)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

The Celtics have won quite a few in my lifetime:p , the Pats have won 3, Maine has won 2. Probably the most fun I've had was following Maine baseball though, never won a college world series but a 3rd place playing with guys who could only play baseball 5 months a year is pretty cool

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Sigh, High School too? Fine...

Haven't won:

CRHS Hockey (Never, EVER, going to happen.)

Have won (year/s):

CRHS Football ('83) Six months old, still counts!
CRHS Baseball ('93, '08)
