'Morning, Lodge!

Sorry to hear about your M-in-L, les :(

I think I watched far too much Top Chef yesterday. Last night, all I dreamt about was people cooking.

You dreamed about cooking people?

Good Morning Lodge!

Back to the grind for another couple days this week...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

Morning Lodge

Friday for me. Another (three in a row!) four day weekend. :D

Les - so sorry to hear - thoughts to you and your family :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

OK, I have a question for the smokin hotts.

Those of you who have stood up in weddings--what was the earliest the bride had you order your dress? I'm in one next summer, and she wants us to have ordered them by the end of the month, and that just seems odd to me, because for 'bando's wedding, the store we went through wouldn't let us order them any sooner than 6 months before the ceremony.

Just tell her that you plan on putting on 30-40 pounds before next summer.

For the wedding that I'm in this Columbus Day, we tried on dresses in June and I purchased mine the the 21st of July. Purchasing them a year in advance seems weird. What if you have a bridesmaid that has significant weight gain or loss? Or is pregnant? Does she have a particular reason?

Les' - I'm sorry to hear about your MIL. Been a tough month here on USCHO (thank goodness for Nathan's good news).

She's crazy. And she won't take advice from those of us who actually HAVE gotten married. "But the Internet says...!" Yes, but the stores you're registering at advise differently about registering a year ahead of time.

That's because everything you read on the Internet is true and must be followed to the letter.

Also how I read that. I call not it! :o

It has - not sure how many of you noticed it, but SFIS has cancer news in the current List. :(

Les: You're probably on this already, but as a historian, make sure someone talks to your MIL and records whatever family history she knows. No substitute for having her there, but it's better than not having her OR her memories. And maybe it'll help her (and your husband) accept matters, too. :( Good luck to all of you.

Morning, Lodge. Just over a week until I get to head back north again... *fidgety*

Mornin' Loj!

Sorry about your MIL, Les. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

morning sex?

Good night kiss in the morning?

Morning Lodge.

Sorry about your MIL, les. :( She's not the relative who won't follow medical direction is she?

No nibbles on Craig's list so I guess the church gets some nice furniture for the garage sale (I want it out of my garage before the weather gets bad).

Or just tell her the truth, you're not sure if you're even going to want to put up her a year from now.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

One of the questions is "what would you do if you had a year to live? Be specific."
That's a dumb question because timelines are imprecise at best. If I noticed a decline of a more permanent variety and that the end was clearly coming within the next few months, I'd quit my job, cash out my retirement, start banging strippers nightly and get a hold of a sportscar and drive around like a maniac.

Ha. Not so much.
I did talk to her at one point about it. I explained the logistical problem of me ordering a dress by Oct 1st at a store whose nearest location is at least 200 miles away (and the preferred one <350) when I don't plan on going downstate until Thanksgiving at the soonest. Since I already know what size I'm going to need based off my measurements from the dress I wore in 'bando's wedding, she was a little lenient with me. (Though she did tell me I needed to go Thanksgiving weekend if I was going to be downstate. Yeah, that's not happening, sweetie.)
