Good idea. You will never win. The pain of reality and the need to change everything that life is based on (if reality is acknowledged) is going to over-ride any logic you provide.
No- reality is too painful to deal with and it is much happier to pretend that all is well. As long as no one tells the emperor he has no clothes all are happy. Sad but true. Kudos for standing up for yourself. No matter what you have stirred the pot enough that no one is going to be able to totally ignore it even when they try really hard. I predict there will be little cracks in the walls and in the next yr or 2 it will start to fall down by itself.

You are spot on. I am looking forward to the day when I can look certain family members square in the eye and say "I told you so."

But, the better day will be when they look you square in the eye and say, "Thanks for telling us."

Good luck, gmann.

With the nut jobs I am dealing with that is probably never going to happen. :)

FWIW the g family visited Osceola, WI on Saturday and took a train ride. Little g was in awe and smiling from ear to ear the entire trip.

Figured as much, but maybe someone will have a moment of lucidity. ;)

Awesome! I haven't been out there for far too long, despite being a member... maybe later this fall if I have time.

One of the volunteer tour guides needs to resign. He is 87 years old and (God bless him as we are all going to get there one day) but he would begin his spiel and then about three or four minutes into it he would stop as he forgot what he was about to say then start all over x4. Factor in that it was 90 degrees, 70 degree dew point and 90% humidity travelling in a train car with no AC and very little breeze coming through the windows. Example, In a span of less than thirty seconds he would go from discussing wainscoting to Jesus to the industrial revolution back to wainscoting. :)

Congrats bbdl!! Did you get anything out of it? Gift card to the pro shop?
I got pro-shop credit, not very much, but enough to start looking at a new club, and also some cash for a couple skins that I had. The prize money wasn't really big for the club championship, surprisingly, but it was still fun and I got 4x my entry fees back, so I won't complain.

edit: and I earned a slot in the year-end tournament of champions, which I hear is plenty of fun

Only one of them? ;)

That's the problem with such museums... usually, the only people who have the time or interest are already on their glidepath to senility. :o Certainly can't tell them no - they have more knowledge about the subject locked away in those brains than anyone - but they're also the folks that go out to get a loaf of bread and end up halfway across Wisconsin.

That is outstanding.

This will never happen. Hopefully you will be so far out of the loop by then it won't matter.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 79: A decade of USCHO

Wish me luck. Gonna try to play something that looks a little like hockey in an hour or so. First time I've played in about a year and I sucked then.:o

Wife and kid seemed genuinely worried when they told me to "be careful" as they left for the kid's piano lesson. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 79: A decade of USCHO

Howdy Everyone!

Weekend was good, despite the brutal humidity. Golfed in the club championship Saturday and Sunday, and the humidity made that quite miserable. But I was tied for the lead in my flight after Sat. so I behaved myself and didn't drink that night (unlike last year). I ended up winning my flight by 1 stroke after nearly giving away a 7 shot lead that I had after about 11 holes.

good job.

i drove to johnstown, pa for a one day member/guest friday. got to take a buddy down from here and met a friend and my brother. nice to treat peeps to a great golf course & lunch and dinner. one bud won a ctp, one the long drive that got a lot of mention at the dinner (320+).

Wuss. My flight to Las Vegas next Monday is at 6:00am.

I don't function before 9am, at best. Even with loads of caffeine. I have a feeling that I'll be in Super Commie Zombie Mode that morning. :o

I'm a night owl, remember.

heh. Good luck.

L'il has camp on and off for the next few weeks. Thankfully, so far Mr has most of the driving duty. I hate when parents try to nonchalantly big you by mentioning where their kid is playing, etc. They all will be done before college, none of them are that good. I will just be a lot richer and more sane. My kid will be able to say he actually went to things without having to leave every function because he can't miss some sport he is awesome in. yea. I love this time of year in 'kid' sports.
