Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

If you were a girl I would ask if you had PMS. Since you are not, whatcha smokin'???

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! terrible tuesday is here.

We are in a hot spell. 90s and so humid you han take a shower by walking fast for the next few days. Wouldn't be so bad but we didn't have summer until a few days ago.
Yeah, it has seemed like somebody has turned up the heat and its arrived here as well now.

Good Morning Lodge.

3.5 more days in BFE.

I heard a commercial driving to work this morning for Gun-A-Palooza. Sometimes I love the south.
Could be worse, check the youtube thread for something called the Gathering of the Juggalos.

I miss anything worth knowing?
Nope.

The chicks are now chickens. I expect eggs in another 6-8 weeks. They are bold and try to escape. I have been bad about posting pictures :o
I will correct that in the next couple of days.
The cat is finally recovering from the "horror" we subjected her to by having the oldest and his GF watch her while we were in Alaska. She was given canned food nearly daily, and allowed to sleep on their bed. Upon her return to our (her?) house, she was aloof and ornery because we wouldn't feed her canned food every day, and do not allow her in our bedroom. She also gained weight. I will for sure include a picture or two of the cat when I get the new chicken pictures up :)
Nothing will spoil a perfectly good barn cat like feeding it canned food. Mom got into that practice a bit when we were having a bunch of raccoons in the barn eating up the dry cat food we have in a dog feeder. Thought was not have the kibble around so much and the coons would leave. Too bad she didn't realise that she wouldn't be able to do chores at all in the morning until she opened up a couple of cans.

K, 'night all. Gotta be in Lansing at 8am for a training day.

Hammer, give me a shout if you're going to the alumni games on Friday. I'm still up in the air about it. Grandma's been in the hospital for a few weeks now, and I might be obligated to head there instead. Ironically, "there" is Bixby.

'Til next time....
What is she doing in Bixby?? Its ok, but I wouldn't want to have an extended stay there.

Who's the sucker thats going to pay nearly 200 bucks for a picture of the MTU Pep band??

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!wobbly wednesday is here.

If it got any more humid here I would check a GPS to see if we are in the Amazon basin.

Lewis,

A certain Lodge member mildly hinted in 'Diva's birthday thread that someone else is having a birthday today. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
:)

Nice! South of the city or north?
We'll have to have dinner at my new place once I'm settled (I'm on the beach!) :)
I was initially thinking Somerville or Cambridge, but I havent ruled Southie out. But most of the time I go out I go to somerville or cambridge, so I figured best bet would be to be closest for bar room stumbling. Then again one of the most recent jobs I applied for was with the Fed DOT which is based in cambridge.

BRENTHOVEN HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED BY WINGER.

ARE YOU A BAD ENOUGH DUDE TO RESCUE THE RUBE?
No he just discoverd the wonder of being without pants....

I remember back in college we took a rented motor home to Florida for spring break. We stopped at a gas station in southern Indiana. I could barely understand what the attendant was saying and he couldn't understand me at all. It was worse than east Texas accents.
Goes both ways. I am a fast talker, and when i get nervous I talk even faster! So when I started doing tours in yellowstone I was talking a mile a minute for the first week. No one south of the mason dixon could understand me. I rather quickly developed my "tour guide" voice, which also seemed to up the tips.

I also had a very scary motor home experience in the part. **** rental RV people. I was driving a bus over the mountain pass, which in the park if you are heading northbound you are on the outside lane of a hairpin turn, with no guard rails or anything (it was a loooooooooooooooooong way down). Some brilliant RV rental clown decided passing going south on the hairpin turn was a brilian idea. Of course I didnt die, but that was the one time I had to pull a bus full of tourists over and give myself a minute. (but sadly one on a decent size list of scary commercial driving moments......)

For everyone whose parents are getting up there in years...all of us...get them to make a will! And figure out who gets what of the personal items. Probably no greater cause of family strife than dealing with the estate after a death. :(

Yeah I have been trying to get my parents to update theirs, its over 25 years old (they did it right after my dads accident). And I know for the most part me and my brother could handle it, but we are also both friggen stubborn so I know if there was something we disagreed upon we could both sit it out for a while.

Some people had birthdays, some are buying houses, some have started dating each other, some are living together, some are engaged, Gonzo bought a fishing house and gmann sold his. Gonzo is hosting a Lodge party at his place in August and everyone who attends gets a free chicken. ASAG is also apparently hosting some kind of a party for Sioux fans.
Man....I feel like I missed alot!

Playing scrabble. Spelled Profit and immediately thought '#4 Profit':o
I thought it was #3 profit?

Shouldn't you guys be chipping your teeth on hardtack? ;) :p
This isn’t the 1700's and they are not Caribbean pirates (but I am sure rum would be welcomed aboard).....

"Anchor" meaning stop in place? Or head to a nearby port? Can a ship withstand waves better when anchored out to sea (as opposed to sailing on through them)?

Cruise I went on last year, we almost had to ride out a storm we hit. I am not sure if that would require anchoring, but I would imagine if you could that would be best so you dont end up blown out way far away. I thought the 32 foot swells were quite bad ***, but I guess people dont like that on cruises.

Me too. Get to see two newly-engaged couples, all friends of mine (and I'm the best man in one of the weddings), spend some non-hockey-season time in CO ;) , and get a break from the grind. Gonna be great. I promise to try and drive-by post, although THAT could be interesting.......
Busy busy boy......
I applied for some jobs in CO as well, and washington state. I guess if I am going to keep applying for jobs out of state, I should stop booking weddings in massachusttes......

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Morning!

Made it to work by 6:30 yet again. Although that's pretty easy when working at home. ;) :D

Now its time to get some coffee!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Well, heading to a nearby port with the intentions of docking unannounced is expensive for the company, and with new regulations since 9/11, can be pretty tough to set up, despite any weather scenarios or not. The most likely bet is to go drop the anchor while in open water, however trying to get into a semi-sheltered area: ie. near a coastline, or perhaps try getting into a harbor and anchoring, but not tying up at a dock.

Just got into St. Clair, should be here +/- 12-14 hours probably. Our Captain is getting off for 2 months vacation, really, really good guy, very knowledgeable and was really able to teach me a good deal of practical stuff, he'll definitely be somebody I'll remember as helping me reach my goals. I've only got 6 days or so left before I get to enjoy 3 weeks of vacation before school takes over my life again.
"The searchers all say they'd've made Whitefish Bay if they'd put fifteen more miles behind her."

Quite cool, and you've got quite possibly the coolest summer job I've ever heard of - except of course for those two guys who were "oil boys" for the Hawaiian Tropic bikini team back in '94 (they made a movie about it).

Enjoy this last bit on the big lakes!

And, at the risk of going all les on everyone:

Good morning Lodge!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

And that is why Bob is my (2nd) favorite poster. :)

T-minus 33 minutes. I have a birthday drink ready and waiting here.
:)

Yay coffee! Just about time to pour myself a cup and do some more dishes!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Good morning lodge.

For those of you keeping score at home I had the "talk" last night. All were in attendance. I was very calm and I made my case using facts backed up with hard core proof which blatantly caught the MIL, FIL and BIL in nothing less than flat out lies. I never pointed fingers but rather I asked each of them to help me figure this out because based on the facts that I brought up something didn't make sense.

BIL stood up and called me a liar and left. MIL and FIL stood up and walked out behind him without saying a word.

F an A.

Below I bolded part of the post by Les which best describes the outcome.

I have no regrets. I am not surprised of the reaction by BIL and MIL but I am surprised by the reaction of the FIL. Mrs. g is very supportive. She thought that I handled the situation perfectly.

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple days. :(

2 hours 55 minutes since gmann's "T minus 60" post, and no word from him since.

I think they killed him and cut up the body, but I hope I'm wrong.

Or vice versa and he's hiding in the woods of MN.

Well, even if the police play it by the book, I'm going to publicly state that they handled the case stupidly.

Give us details, gmann!

Gmann's burgers are PEOPLE!!!!! THEYYYY'RRREEEEEE PEEEEEOOOOOPPPPLLLLEEEE!!!!!!!

That, or he's laughing hysterically and pulling out his hair because all sense of order and reason has left his world...

They may not wake up at all. As a matter of fact it would surprise me if they did. Famlies like that function by willfully ignoring anything that doesn't fit into what they want to deal with. They may be 'very close' but that might all be smoke and mirrors.

My prediction- Shock and surprise that this is brought up, disbelief in the face of obvious proof and anger that anyone would mess up the homeostasis.
Stick with it anyway. Just cos they play that way doesn't mean you have to. Hang in. No matter what you do they are who they are. You can only be responsible for protecting your family from the screwed-upedness. My in-laws have some strange foibles that have become more evident to Mr as time goes on. What he used to tolerate and condone (and drove me mad) he now sees for what it is.

Installment 2 in the morning or this evening???

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Morning Lodge.

Wonder if gmann wound up in the wood chipper. Which reminds me of an Ole and Sven joke.

Ole says "how many Svedes does it take to lube a combine?" Sven goes "I don't know, how many?" "Yust two if you run dem through real slow."

I really like Southie, the only problem with it is getting to and from there from the rest of the City after going out at night. Unless you're going out in Southie, it gets to be quite expensive.

I have a bunch of friends who live in Somerville and Cambridge, let me know if you want/need recommendations.

:( *hug* For what it's worth, I think you did the right thing. When bad stuff like that festers, it's just all sorts of nasty (spoken from experience with my dad's immediate family).

I was introduced to this phenomenon (Sven and Ole) when I was in MN last September. Very strange.

Morning, kids! Attractive guy with British accent on the T and getting rid of the rest of the toasted coconut cupcakes I made last night has made for a positive start to the morning already.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Ole and his brother Sven grabbed their poles and headed out to do some ice fishing. As they were augering a hole in the ice they heard a loud voice from above say, "There's no fish under the ice."

Ole an Sven moved about 25 feet over and started to make another hole. The voice said a little stronger, " There's no fish under the ice." They both looked around and then looked up.

Ole said, "Are you God?"

The voice spoke back, "No, the ice rink attendant."

Ole and Sven went fishing one summer and decided to rent a boat from the resort instead of fishing from the shore. They rowed out a ways and started to fish. They caught one fish after the other. Ole says to Sven, "I wish we could mark this spot. It’s the best fishing I've seen since I was a boy."

Sven replied, "I got some chalk in my tackle box, so why don't I put an X right here on the bottom of the boat?"

Ole laughed, "You goofy brother of mine...What if we don't rent the same boat next time."

Ole went to the Doctor because he was feeling a little sick. After a few tests the Doctor told Ole, "I'm sorry to tell you that you have a rare disease that is incurable and you are going to die in 6 months. But to help you out I'm going to prescribe that you move in with your mother-in-law."

Ole replied, "That’s terrible Doc, but why should I move in with my rotten mother-in-law."

The Doc said, "Because that will be the longest 6 months of your life."

Sorry that I was spot on. Prediction for next scenario.=- they will talk among themselves and talk themselves into an acceptable alternate story that makes them all comfortable. You are now non-exsistant and they will try to seperate mrs. g from you by inviting her to things without you. They will then approach mrs. g and present this story to her- probably in multiple offhand ways, seperately. They will never address as a family. They will never address it with you. They will lose no opportunity to pound home to mrs. g why you do not get it and don't fit into the family. If mrs. g stands firm, eventually they will just pretend nothing happened.

Best description of a dysfunctional relationship I ever heard was the elastic band theory. Imagine a group of people surrounded by a big elastic band. As one person attempts to get more healthy they pull against the elastic which squishes the others tighter together. The other people will pull harder and harder to try and get the person back to 'normal' and their behavior will become more out of line and exagerated as the person draws away and the elastic band will gets tighter. Eventually the band breaks and the groups then relax although they are never the same.
