Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

So relieved to have a new apartment (this one has a dishwasher and a washer/dryer [neither of which I currently have] and I get to paint!!). Pics here. Can't wait to quit my job and become a full-time beach bum :p

I hate the polls section...

You should probably have the monitor higher and, while I'm sure it's comfortable, it really isn't ergonomically correct to use a vacuum cleaner as a chair....

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Ugh -- I have to go buy a dress for a wedding either tonight or tomorrow night. Blech. And I have to actually pay for my bridesmaids' dress for the Oct. wedding. :( On the plus side, the shoes we're wearing with our dresses are awesome.
Dress
Shoes

Unfortunately, the dress and shoes are almost the same price -- but at the end, I'll own a pair of red sparkly Converse...

When do bridesmaids not have to pay for their dresses? I've had to pay for mine in every wedding I've been in. And you actually get to wear sneakers????

Shouldn't all of them?

Morons!! Someone should explain you can either learn a beautiful language or learn to talk with the pool cleaner. ;)

I meant that we have them on reserve and I have to go and actually put down the money for it (I wouldn't expect the bride and groom to pick up the tab -- they're paying for enough of the wedding!).

Yup -- we're wearing sneakers because they're getting married in October in an orchard. The ground definitely isn't conducive to heels and there has been some concern expressed by bridesmaids that we might be chilly in our dresses and sandals. I suggested these because they're fun and comfy.

Ah, I get it. I read it as "Can you believe we actually have to pay for our dresses?????" Sorry 'bout that! I love the idea of sneakers. You'll be on your feet a lot so those will be perfect. And how lucky for you that you can re-use them during hockey season given they are BU's color!! :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

I just checked my e-mail, and got some bad news.

Rudyard polled student interest, and decided to hire a Spanish teacher instead of a French teacher. Thus, they do not have a position to offer me. What's worse is that I was supposed to have been informed of this last month.

:(

sucks, sorry to hear that:( But like the others have said, you'll find a spot somewhere, and hopefully things are meant to happen for a reason:)

Up off the Keweenaw right now, beautiful day for the UP folks for sure.

2 weeks until I can enjoy 3 weeks of summer =]

Indeed -- and they'll be warmer than my flip-flops (usual game attire). I have a red pair that I wore to graduation, but these are sparkly!!

The bedroom comes equipped with a man:eek:
Shouldn't all of them?
So, if I'm buying a 3 bedroom house, does that me it will come equipped with 3 men? I'd be happy with just 1, but I wouldn't turn down having 3. :D

Today is the 4 year anniversary of my hole-in-one.:D
So that's what the kids are calling it these days. And, if so, why would you want to brag that it's been 4 years?

*hugs*

You'll find something eventually, 'diva.

You need to visit the Abortion, again thread where they are discussing depravity of the youthful generation:D

It is quite a fantastic day, weather-wise. Been thinking about heading out to the lake.

Speaking of summer, I can't believe it's already more than half over. I've only got like.. 33 more days until I'm no longer a pre-frosh.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Is it standard practice to try and get people to sign blank pages where details can be filled in later?

The mortgage company I'm working with for my house sent me a bunch of standard forms where there's spaces for information to be filled out (by the lender) and there's no information there. And they want me to sign it. Ummm....should I just hand them a blank check while I'm at it? (I realize I will be handing them a very large check in about a month).

Oh and the other pages have things like "I acknowledge the receipt of ____", umm...no I'm not signing that until I actually receive _____.

Am I odd for not wanting to sign these things, and actually reading them?

Not at all. I had all sorts of trouble with the realty agent that I was using to find an apartment. He sent over a lease with a bunch of blanks to be filled in later by the landlord. I held out and said I absolutely would not sign it unless it was totally filled in. What if they write something absurd in?

My friend Julia and I have this discussion all the time...how do people sign things they don't read? She and I have even gotten to the point where we read End User Agreements and the fine print for contests we enter. Protecting your information (and photos, stories, etc) is a big deal.
