Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

One thing I've noticed this year is a lack of bugs. I'm guessing it's due to the overall lack of rain, but I have to say I like it. Heck, I just saw my first mosquito of the summer last night.
I noticed that too, I haven't gotten a single mosquito bite yet and haven't even used the spray. The flys are bad at home, but thats mostly due to the overabundance of cow ****.

The twin cities is in a severe drought, so you are unlikely to see many bugs here. The lakes country has had more rain and probably has more bugs (although it's likely on the low side compared to normal summers).

You're right, it really can be creepy. Sort of a Deliverance meets Twin Peaks feel. At least the band director is really nice to tSBFitW and feeds us whenever we visit for their homecoming :D

Back in high school our band participated in their Labor Day parade (they paid pretty well to have us up there)... never spent any more time than I had to there.

Morning Lodge.

'ewe, congrats on the apartment.

I am exhausted. Went to Cedar Point yesterday, it was somewhat dissapointing based on the group. Must remember to keep group size smaller and limited only to people who will go on all roller coasters. We had a group of 6, found out 1 didn't really like coasters (I think she may have been crying after the first one...but she toughed it out and tried a few more after encouragement), had 1 that just didn't want to go on Dragster (400+ ft straight up and then straight down) and wanted to keep the other girl company. So, there was a lot of standing around trying to decide what to do to make people happy, and not nearly enough going on rides. Oh, and some of the people walked slowly.

Oh well, it was still pretty fun. But, I didn't get home until well after midnight (and this was after waking up a bit before 6 am). So, I'm tired and so far very unproductive at work.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

It was dark and I tripped on a log that I couldn't see. I fell straight into the bush, luckily I got my arm up to protect my face, so my arm was a mess, but my face didn't get scrached up.

Ah, so it was a threesome.

:p

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I think the MMCD got after the skeeters pretty effectively too where there is standing water, but the drought reduced the issue right away.

Morning, Lodge. Two days off work, another back at work, then I get to go visit the lady and attend a wedding. So today, I get to buy a wedding gift :o

Evening, Lodge. Made about 10 nails in the blacksmith shop today, so that was pretty cool. Next thing you know, I'll be out there making cannons and shyte. ;)

Their old one or their new one? Their new one (IIRC he would have been hired about 2005 or 2006) is an NMU alum, and for whatever reason does NOT like me.

'Morning, Lodge! Spending one more day in Houghton. :)

So that's what the young kids are calling it these days. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Howdy gang. Sitting in my new cube. It's different. My computer and phone are angled the other way from the way it used to be. When you walked into the pod before, my back was to you, computer angled on the left, phone on my left. They switched the desk set up so now I'm facing forward, computer and phone are on my right. It's taking a little getting used to. Also, I lost half my storage. I know I need to box up and ship a bunch of stuff but I'm going to hold off until I see if I get a new file cabinet.

It is brighter and they painted, so I guess it's not all bad.

Their old one at least, as well as their old old one (she conducted the Huskies Pep Band for a year before we hired a permanent guy... who ended up taking off and moving to Taiwan ) Haven't heard whether the new one likes the band, but I haven't heard the opposite.

Enjoy Houghton :)

Yup - I probably won't be there ALL the time, but even if it's once or twice a month it'll be a lot of fun.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

I just checked my e-mail, and got some bad news.

Rudyard polled student interest, and decided to hire a Spanish teacher instead of a French teacher. Thus, they do not have a position to offer me. What's worse is that I was supposed to have been informed of this last month.

:(

Nope -- just taking an off-season vacation. He's been working on some art projects.

That sounds adorable! Are there photos you would share?

So relieved to have a new apartment (this one has a dishwasher and a washer/dryer [neither of which I currently have] and I get to paint!!). Pics here. Can't wait to quit my job and become a full-time beach bum :p
The bedroom comes equipped with a man:eek:

I think you sent all the mosquitoes here- they are the worst we have had in years!

That sucks, but I'm sure you'll find something. At least you'll be able to stay closer to Houghton, right?;) :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Ugh -- I have to go buy a dress for a wedding either tonight or tomorrow night. Blech. And I have to actually pay for my bridesmaids' dress for the Oct. wedding. :( On the plus side, the shoes we're wearing with our dresses are awesome.
Dress
Shoes

Unfortunately, the dress and shoes are almost the same price -- but at the end, I'll own a pair of red sparkly Converse...
