Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

So, the question is:

North Dakota > Nebraska for scenery? Or vice versa? I can't say South Dakota, because at least they have the Badlands and Mt Rushmore.

Western North Dakota isn't bad, more like the Badlands. Eastern... bleh. Flat, corn, beet, bean and wheat fields as far as you can see.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

Welcome to last year. :p

And I'll mention a quote, with the word "sex" substituted by the word "bacon," from a friend when he was first hearing all of the urban dictionary terms that we bandy about:

"I hear about these things, and maybe some are great, they're definitely creative, but I guess I never got bored with some plain ol' bacon."

:D

Eh, I figured they had made their way here, but it never hurts to reminisce.

The eastern 2/3(?) of North Dakota is equal to Nebraska in suckiness. It's pretty much the same flat landscape with endless farmland and few cities/people. These are two states you definitely do not want to be driving through in a blizzard.

So, ND > NE? Because you didn't exactly answer the question completely either. :p

Who cares if I answered it completely? I told you what to expect if you drove through the state. The vast majority of it is pretty much identical to the eastern half of Nebraska with the very flat relatively treeless farmland. The Badlands are nice, but that's about a half hour or so of driving out of several hours to cross that god forsaken state. :p

The only positives about ND and NE are their speed limits - which of course are meaningless when you get caught behind two semis driving side by side at 65 mph.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

Good morning, Lodge.

Just about time to go for a run; it's a good way to vent after a frustrating weekend at work.

Congrats to the monster!

I vote for the bacon chocolate cake. It looked delicious.

Oh and good morning!

I think I'm begining to realize just how much I missed out on growing up, with my parents not getting me a NES and whatnot. :o :o
Same here. I was elated when my friends got me an NES for my 18th birthday freshman year of college. :o (turned out the system was older than me  )
Wow, I'm surprised it was that bad up in Maine yesterday. It was really gorgeous here yesterday. A little on on the windy side, and there were a bunch of clouds early on, but still blue sky and that yellow orb thing in the sky. Ralph, the weather is not good in DC today? It's as beautiful here today, if not more so.
Yup -- absolutely gorgeous weekend!
(about time!!!)
Aw, you guys are good for a girl's ego. :o

And ZOMG!!!!1!!!!

I met Jeffrey Donovan at the Red Sox game today!!!!! Squeeee!!!! He's the star of that show Burn Notice on USA Network (Thursdays at 9pm, in case anyone is interested). Which I LOVE. I had seats up in the suite level and as we were leaving, I saw him standing there with his girlfriend, who is his co-star on the show. I walked up to him and asked if it was indeed him, shook his hand, told him I was a huge fan of the show, that I thought she was a great addition to the cast this year. They were both really nice. Then I said "First game I've gone to this year when I didn't bring a pen or sharpie. Or camera." *sigh* And he says "Well, we'll always have this." And gestured between us. Hee!! Such a cutie. Mark Wahlberg was also at the game and I was wondering if I was going to see him up there. This was much better. :)
I would have preferred to meet Marky Mark :p

Lucky though, I've heard good things about that show.
That's like Pennsylvania on I-80 between Ohio and New Jersey. Trees. And more trees. And trees after that. We went over a bridge. I figured there would be a lake or a stream about 200 feet below us. Nope. Just trees. Through the mountains. Trees. For God's sake the only thing I could think of was The Waltons.
Ugh -- total wasteland there. I've driven from Scranton to Pittsburgh and it's just brutal.

Morning, kids! New record, tears before 9am. :o

Holding my breath and counting down the seconds myself. The word is that the West Texas fans are going to be setting up shop for GVSU. Have plenty of Brisket, Lone Star and other tailgating fixings there as long as we bring them stuff from up north, mostly beers I think its going to be. There's actually going to be another D2 game that I'm kinda interested in going to in Abilene that Thursday, and I'm kinda interested in going to that game as well, and making the trip a full blown Texas Vacation. Just my problem is that I don't think I could bring down enough of my pulled pork with me to keep for both the thursday and Saturday night games.
Very cool. I don't know my schedule yet, but if I'm not working or out of town, we could grab a beer or several. Tech starts classes earlier that same week, so there will be some serious talent for you to engage at the local establishments (say, if you drove the 2.5 hours NW from Abilene on Friday). I'm a married guy, so of course I don't do that any more - I don't even look. I leer. From here, it's 105 miles north to Canyon (West TX A&M).
Start my new job tomorrow, but I have a feeling that for the first couple of days, I'll end up still winding down some stuff from my old job.
I may have missed it, but did you tell us how that first date went? In the warm embrace of USCHO anonymity, you can tell us all the details. Did you go with the Star Trek convention, or the ventriloquist dummy?

As for the new job, it's probably a good idea to start an office romance right away!

I'd go with Nebraska greater than. North Dakota sounds like the Lubbock of the north, but with more snow and less sand. There is one building in Grand Forks I'd like to see though...
