Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

Good Morning Lodge

I forgot to mention, this pole sucks, I never played video games, no matter which decade they're from.

Iowa, eastern Nebraska, all of non-Chicago Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio are pretty much the same: endless farmland, desolate, and the occasional clump of trees. As Twitch said, western Nebraska manages to be even worse, as you don't even have farmland out there - it's just empty dry crap land. Same thing in northeastern Colorado as well - although eventually you can see the mountains (but you have to drive into Colorado quite a ways before that happens).
I enjoy looking at farmland and feedlots, so Iowa and Illinois don't really bother me, but Nebraska I'm not so sure about. The smell doesn't bother me, when you grow up 100 yards from a feedlot you don't notice the smell.

I may have missed it, but did you tell us how that first date went? In the warm embrace of USCHO anonymity, you can tell us all the details. Did you go with the Star Trek convention, or the ventriloquist dummy?

As for the new job, it's probably a good idea to start an office romance right away!
No first date yet, and now it seems like it probably won't happen, so that sucks. Apparently women have a hard time figuring out what they want. (no offense to the ladies of the lodge)

and as for the new job, no office romance, I'll be working with all of the same people, just in a different capacity. Definitely won't be anything going on with anyone I work with.

None taken. Girls is crazy.

duh. And even if we know what we want, we do our best to muck everything up.
Join the army! We cry more before 9AM than most people do all day!

You've got mail, btw
Heh -- I'm doing a lot of crying lately, starting to freak me out a bit.

Ah -- so I do, I am without laptop until tomorrow, so I didn't see it until now. (Edit - v-e-r-y interesting. I will give my full attention to it tomorrow when I have a laptop and can think clearly about a response.)
You're planning ways to get rid of the girlfriend and get him for yourself, aren't you?
clearly. :p

Agreed.

Crisis moderately averted. *sigh* I'm so taking a whole week in October for vacation.

I agree that women are crazy.

'ewe I hope your day gets better.

See, now this is why you guys should take in the occasional MTU football game on the road. ;) Ferris takes on MTU in Grand Rapids at Fifth/Third Ballpark this year, means you all could make a stop at Founders. ;)
Depending on what day that is...I might be convinced to go. Especially if I can get a Fifth/Third burger. Mmmm...heart attack on a plate.

Iowa isn't that bad. Nice rolling hills and pretty to look at.

Western Nebraska is the killer. Nothing but scrubland and expressway.
What were you on when you drove through Iowa to think that it is not bad?

So, ND > NE? Because you didn't exactly answer the question completely either. :p
Having been to both Grand Forks and Omaha for hockey, I can tell you both suck, a lot. As do the drives to those locations from Michigan. Long, boring drives. And when there is that much suck the difference between them doesn't account for much.
I can say that we at least found something to do in Omaha....we ate steak and went to the zoo.

We also found a cheap hotel outside of Omaha with a bar attached called Spanky's (I think it was Spanky's or it was something equally amusing. Total dive bar). The owner was a midget...like 4' tall midget and was dancing with an average height large woman with massive boobs. It was very amusing to watch. So, the hotel bar was filled with townies and I think my one friend and I were possibly the only people staying at the hotel that were at this bar. The group I traveled with also made the 11 o'clock news.

Getting involved with co-workers is usually a bad idea.
Someone should tell this to a guy I know. Granted, he doesn't get involved with the co-workers, he just asks out nearly every female co-worker and gets turned down. Then, when there is a new female co-worker he already has a reputation for being desperate and pathetic.

Morning (it is still)!

Another day off with pay. Yay me!

I'm craving Chipotle for lunch today. Then maybe Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Because I clearly like to eat healthy. :)

Wow, you really need some action.
This is probably a true statement for several people around here.

I would definitely eat one of those, but there's no way I'm driving to Michigan to do it, and I wouldn't watch a D2 football game is it was being played in my backyard.

I think I might try to find this bar when the Omaha trip comes along, though it sounds like the kind of place that mistakes happen.
That's right, women be trippin' yo.

I'm bored and I think I need to go back to the dentist, which sucks.
Yeah, I need to go to the dentist too, its been a while, but I just keep putting it off, which is really stupid since I get free regular cleanings with my dental plan.

I went to the dentist a couple weeks ago to get some cavities filled, I was told if I got to the point that I couldn't chew to come back. Well yesterday morning I went to go bite into something, and I wished I didn't.

I'm this way about going to the doctor's - and we have good insurance. I'm very good about the dentist, but I hate hate hate going to the doctor's office.
