Tomorrow starts what will probably be a rough stretch at work. Co-worker has vacation. Replacement help is a day to day decision. Already going to start 1/2 hour earlier each day, to try and alleviate the volume of business.

I bet the beer on Fri after work these next couple weeks will taste better than it ever has before.

Would give my eye teeth for a beer or any other mind altering substance. Trying to get the picture discs made for tomorrow night's Spring awards. All of a sudden a clattering noise from inside my laptop. I shut it off and there is still rattling. Freaking out. Have vacation in 2 days so was going to back up my stuff then. All the pics from the outdoor season are on there, my outlook, my family tree stuff, and a bunch more. Losing my mind. Have an appointment at Best buy for 2:45. My vacation starts tomorrow. Will have to work on Wed as there is no way I wil be done By 2:15 tomorrow. Oh happy days (sing along now!)

If it's a laptop, unplug it if it's plugged in. Let it die.

Then on restart, it will ask you if you want to start it up normally, or with a safecheck/similar. Choose the latter. Boom you're good. Mine does the same thing once in a while; it's a bit old, though, so I'm not surprised by it.

In large part, it will probably be tougher for you these next couple of weeks because you're now older, slower, and balder than you were when this has happened in the past.

It really hasn't happened in the past. Like me, my co-worker hates taking more than 2-3 days off in a row. But given our years of service and PTO accumulated, it's getting tougher to do that sort of thing now. We pretty much HAVE to have a couple stretches of a week off or more, so as to not lose PTO time on the carryover.

Laptop #2 is now dead also. Pretty sure that one was dying when we bought lil the replacement. Just completely sheeat the bed last night. Now on the netbook. Never realized just how many different electronic devices I had here :eek: Too bad most of them are only semi functional!

Sorry les. Remember folks - back-up those files! Remote drives are cheap now and you can make it automatic to run a back-up.
