Good morning Lodge. OT shift today. Not sure why I thought this was a good idea.....oh, yeah, because with the recent merge I'm being forced back down to a dispatch line, so I lose an extra $400 (before taxes) per paycheck starting in April. Missed it by one person.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #189: The Winter of our Discontent.

Could have been worse. There's what is known as imitation calamari which is just sliced pig rectum. Not really Kosher.

I've met a few Iranians, and yeah, most of the ones that have gotten here think the guys in charge there are nuts.
NOt where my brain wanted to go this morning.

Bummer

Good Morning Lodge!

I think there is. But then again, about 2,000 miles separates us from the nearest coast. Sure we can eat fresh, but that's almost an expensive luxury. We really don't grow up eating it and we don't have access to it on a daily basis.

Most of that is because what we do get is pretty much crap. Therefore we grow up hating it and associating it with not-so-fresh fish.

About 70% of the upper midwest eats Friday night fish fry...and 100% of Wisconsin does.

Freshwater fish aren't the same as seafood. That's what I was referring to. Just as I make a post about someone else being pedantic, you make me have to come in here and look like I'm doing the same thing. :D

You make a good point, however, I would say outside of Wisconsin, relatively few people in terms of population do that. Outstate areas in the midwest, sure. Especially heavily Catholic areas, but not limited to them. This is all anecdotal.

Alot of the fish fries are cod. Not the greatest fish, but not freshwater either.

With that said, I wouldn't say a person that likes friday fish fries in Wisconsin is a person that likes seafood. Since a fish fry is essentially the least seafoodlike kind of seafood there is.

Cod is cheap as hell, and doesn't really taste like anything. Comes down to who has the better batter. Walleye is much better, but as bbdl stated it will cost more money.

A proper Friday night fish fry is awesome...but it's not necessarily seafood. Usually "Alaskan cod" (the stage name for an east Pacific bottomfeeder), or if you're lucky and shelling out the bucks, real "Atlantic cod", or (from the lakes) whitefish, or walleye.

Good Morning, Lodge!

Bracing for an all out war at work. My co-worker screwed up a job badly and they come back from vacation today. My boss it going to have their head on a platter. My other co-worker and myself are building a bunker to shield ourselves.

A question for those in the Boston area:

RPI received a commitment from Mat Harris of the Boston Jr. Bruins yesterday. In a post that he wrote about six years ago, he mentions that his father writes for a Boston newspaper. A bit of googling resulted in the name Stephen Harris of the Boston Herald who is a sports writer. Does anyone know if Mat is his son?
