Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

Back at work. Last minute change of plans due to weather, working today, and taking Friday off to help on the farm.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

All I have to do this week is make it to Wednesday. Working Sun-Tuesday nights. Beer dinner Wednesday, staying at a fancy hotel on Wednesday night (B&B where the beer dinner is hosted). Thursday is an all-day trauma conference (Which I am getting 4hours OT to attend). Then off Friday through Tuesday night.
Trauma conf should be interesting!

Have Tue/Fri off. Finally finish some dental stuff on Tue (random day off; part of burning off my extra PTO). Fri, may hit up a local taproom I haven't been to before. Ran into someone that is a higher up at the place while at church today, got a 2-for-1 coupon. Also get to see my son this Saturday. Cannot wait.
Can't wait for the stories!

thanks!!

Grrrrr..... Got into some poison ivy or poison oak and I got it all over my forearms and elbows. Sucks a big one. gotta keep my hands busy to keep from scratching. And currently sitting up waiting on a horse transport to show up to drop off a horse. It was supposed to be here earlier this week, but its from somewhere down in the Carolina's and with Matthew down there messing things up it was better for them to do that pick up later. Just wish they would show up soon.
Zanfel. We used to recommend that at work.

Good Morning Lodge!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

Greetings Lodge. Quiet Monday (at least for now). One of my front teeth hurts. I'm thinking that I will need a root canal. I have an appointment end of next month for a cleaning. Was going to wait till that appointment but now I think I will need to go in sooner. Crap.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

I cringe when I see the work Quiet when referring to work. In my profession that is a swear word and will absolutely guarantee a disaster occur before end of shift

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

Stock up on Fels Naptha.

Fels naptha only works on washing it off before the oils cause a reaction. Once the reaction has started, it's useless and you're better off with something a bit more modern.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

Also, I hate that they called it Fels-naptha instead of naphtha.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

No, it's soap used to prevent them and only if used soon after exposure. Sorry to be such a pedant, but don't waste your money on it trying to treat the rash. It will probably just make it worse.

:)

Eta: back in Boy Scouts we would wash up with FN after hikes through the woods. We'd also wash our socks and shorts with it before using them again.

What he said. Didn't know you had to use it that quickly, but yeah, Fels was a MUST in Boy Scouts.

Found out today that around the same time that 2 of the 3 big bosses on our shift resigned in Sept, so did the overnight shift manager. Pretty much cements that there was pressure from corporate to resign or be fired. Only DHead Boss remains out of all of them, because, well, IMO he IS the corporate robot that corporate loves so much. Whee.

Hence my answer when asked in my last review about a month ago about going into management at some point: "I want no part of that career path. I am quite happy where I am in THIS particular position."

Good Morning Lodge!
Yup -- some good features:
What have we learned from the recent bombings as far as trauma management/triage, palliative care in geriatric trauma, 2 lectures related to increases in gun violence, speakers from the NEOB and our transplant team on the rise in transplantable organs due to the rise in opioid overdose deaths, and managing TBI and spinal cord trauma with the new TBI guidelines.

I'm with you.

Ummm, what city are they referring to, because nationwide, there is no increase: www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news...-gun-violence-in-the-united-states-heres-why/
We're seeing more in our area. While it may be down nationwide; for whatever reason, in our population we're seeing more. I think it's because our hospital acquired several other hospitals and we're now taking their patients. We've also had several recent active shooter threats to the hospital.

Huh, interesting. Would really be curious about what the causes would be for pockets of increases, that don't follow the overall trend. Of course, if your place specifically has just taken on hospitals in areas that are routinely more violent, then that would pretty much explain it.

I may be speaking out of turn here, but I think the more violent places are getting more violent, where as the marginal places are cooling down, and there are more marginal places than violent places, therefore lowering the overall violent trend.....

One of the hospitals we acquired is in a small port city nearby that has become known as an area that does a lot of importing for heroin for the area, so I think that since we've acquired that place, we've seen an uptick. I will let you know the gist of it after the class.
