Shenanicans!!!!

(I could find myself in that territory this weekend. Buddy from school (college, also a sailor) is getting married. Rally the troops!)

Ditto. A friend has the wife and kid out of town, and other issues make him a prime candidate for letting off some steam. Life has been sucking for him lately (not wife-kid related). And I'm right there with him.

Good Morning Lodge.

Well, got the scoop on Jr's meeting with his new boss. It is more general than just painting apartments, though that's part of it. He's supposed to keep a nice shirt in his car in case he has to show apartments. He also may have to wash the boss's car (which got Jr quite excited - boss drives an Aston Martin or a Maserati typically, keeps the classic Corvette in the garage). Boss told him another name for the position might be "personal slave.":D

This is the main building he has: http://www.apartments.com/drexel-apartments-minneapolis-mn/55lyk9n/

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Good morning Lodge. Got to the T station to see everyone up in the station and no one on the platform where the train was. OK. Grabbed my phone to check Twitter, see a tweet about delays due to a "police action." Hmmm. Literally a minute later they let everyone back down.

As I was walking on the platform to get to my spot, I saw a group of about seven police officers and was going to ask what happened. Then I noticed they were surrounding a couple. The woman was wearing a hijab and was being held by her husband/boyfriend/male companion. I wonder if this police action was some sort of hate incident. That makes me a little scared and anxious.

I feel like I'm Quagmire from The Family Guy, or wT. Running some tests on a system where it turns out - completely by chance - that I'm listed as Employee ID 69, and I get to give final approval.

Giggity giggity goo.

w00t!! Good for Jr!

lil is working at Market Basket- got a raise and they give him lots of hours. Now if I could find a way to help him understand he miiiiiight want to consider looking into internships....

What is he working towards these days? I don't have any solid thoughts... I never really thought there were serious opportunities as a math major. I had problems in grad school as well when I even asked our department chair for "something" to do so that I wouldn't go crazy over the summer....

It was a long ****ing summer

Off the cuff, I know of three people where I work who have math degrees. One is part of the four-member analyst team that directs all other analysts in Trust Operations on their projects, the second is one of two lead application developers/coders that services Trust Ops, and the third is an assistant vice president who manages the domestic trade settlements team. I'm sure there are other math majors around here, but those are the three I know personally. And they're all my age or younger.

Congrats to Jr. His boss must live in cake land.:)

En route to Country Fest in Cadott, WI for the next two nights.

I was told to expect a job offer with a start date of July 11th.. Really exciting opportunity that after reviewing, I believe I will end up taking.

tcbg was an English and a Math major. He's a quality engineer/applications engineer -- works on the hardware and software of the machine that his company makes.

Congrats to Jr. His boss must live in cake land.:)

He is living in the house he grew up in, as I am, so yes. His is on a larger, deeper pond than mine is, his is called Lake Cornelia.

Jr. intends to major in Automotive Engineering and Technology at Mankato State. He is signed up for a summer class in Macro Economics starting in July and will register at Normandale CC in the fall where they offer MSUM classes with MSUM teachers on the Normandale campus - at about $11K/yr less than Mankato. He hopes to transfer to MSUM for second or third year.

I think he may find the engineering program too difficult and think he may transfer to something finance related. He took Personal Finance, Investing and Accounting this year in high school and liked them all. His genes from mom coming out. If only he had her work ethic and attention to detail...

My general point is not all disciplines are created equal in terms of opportunity.

So does that mean he has your work ethic and attention to detail? :D

Only had two days off this week, and just got junior manned for one of them. For those keeping score at home...I am about to start the final stretch of 4 on, 1 off, 6 on, 1 off, 6 on. Check will be nice, though, and this actually might work out better for me.
