Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

My wife plans to force me to do that when I retire. Even if it is volunteer and/or part time. She fears I will turn quickly into a vegetable if I don't get one.

My dad flunked retirement. At least for the first several years.

What Brent said plus our school added 9th grade and our Principal was basically fired (put on leave and then he resigned later). So many new staff and students and me with my first full time job, plus the 10th graders that I had were among the toughest kids in the school. So much change plus bad leadership made for a very frustrating year at times but feels like a major accomplishment to be done. Worked super hard (was frequently the first person in our department there and last to go.
They talk about nursing "eating their young" but I think teachers do a pretty good job of it. Can't say how many times I have heard new teachers relate they are given a class full of very tough kids, rejects, kids that are doing poorly. It seem scounterintuitive.

Morning, Lodge. There is entirely too much callbell ringing by my patients.
I read this as cowbell and could not understand how there could ever be too much cowbell!!

I am 25,000 days old today.

I scrolled to see if you gave the answer in white font.

I have proven in the presceeding months I have not flunked retirement. Teaching M-T this week and next. Still have PTSD. Came home and didn't know why I could have free time. I worked therefore I should have to chart until midnight. Instead I went out and did something non-work related. It was wonderful.

I married the cowbell guy -- some times there is, indeed, too much cowbell.
How is the teaching going? CNAs?

CNAs. It is.....interesting. Culturally diverse class of 8. What they say about not getting down to business for a bit as part of certain cultures is true. Very motivated but like trying to walk thru frozen molasses (not to mention the person organizing this is a bit fluid in their directions to me. Class was supposed to start at 9 (after it was supposed to start at 8). The last 2 rolled thru the door at 9:25. They came back from break and lunch 10 minutes late each time. total time lost 45 minutes of a 6 h class. I need to work that out

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Got another promo code for church tonight and work sucked arse, so stopped by and got free stuff. However, found out that one of my favorite bartenders' last day is Wed (she works Mon/Wed nights). Heading to Asia for a couple weeks, then moving to Denver. :(

So, Monday Tuesday'd, and tomorrow is Tuesday. Boy, I just cannot wait.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

My Monday went well. I beasted through our task queue all day today, getting our offshore team to send the end of day cycle sheet at 5:30. Earliest it has happened in four months. Felt good to hear a few old veterans on the team say "This new guy is starting to make us look bad."

Of course, I've just raised expectations and made my life more stressful, but that is tomorrow me's problem.

It's a good problem to have.

Sorry, we're full.

(There's an Old Chicago 2 miles from my house. Wonder if she'll end up there.)

She said she wasn't really switching jobs, but I dunno if she was referring to her main job, or both her main job and OC. I can find out. She rules. And is recently single. A little young for you (mid-20s) but hey......

Edit: if anything, you could end up with better and quicker service at OC if you drop a name. :D

Good Morning Lodge.

So bb_dl gave me a tip on where to find a new barrel for Jr's shotgun and it worked out. We were sweating how he was going to shoot at the State Meet on Saturday. Now it is looking much better.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Good Morning, Lodge!

Sad day for the SCSU community as our President of the university was killed in a single car roll over accident. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

A kid from Jr's high school class drowned this past weekend in a river in northern MN. Two of the local channels news shows had it on this morning, with two different explanations, while Jr heard a third story. One station had him falling into the river gorge, the other that he was swimming in the river, Jr heard he went in to try and help another girl from their class who was getting swept into the rapids. Tragic event, but don't really know what happened.

It was the Temperance River.

Sad. The g family will be camping there the first week in August.

A man drowned very close to my house over the weekend. Jumped out of a boat. Never came up. They found him an hour later in 6' of water. Not knowing all the details....6' of water? I have a hard time thinking about how someone couldn't have jumped in after him.

Have fun in Alex this weekend. Where are you going to go fishing?

Saw a couple of FB posts last night from HS classmates of Mrs. GE (both went to and now teach at BSM) - Extremely sad. :(

I wear a PFD almost all the time in a boat.

We're planing right now to try Ida. Reports look good for multi-species and it's not as huge as Miltona or Carlos. Feel free to offer up your secret hot spots though.:D

Did a trial run with the boat last night with a modification to the trailer hitch and the new cover on the boat. Seems to track real well this way. Getting the rig dialed in, now I just need to find fish.
