Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

When I lived next door to my parents, I came home in the middle of tax season one night to find that I had no power or water due to a storm. Naturally, my parents had theirs. So I went to bed, only to have the power come back on in the middle of the night. The alarm went off, as everything had reset to 12:00. I saw that the clock read 12:00, but in my mind, it was time to get up and go to work. After all, the alarm went off. So I got up, got dressed enough to go to my parents' place to shower and get ready for work. As I'm in the living room, putting my shoes on, I glanced up at the clock on the wall. It read about 2:45 AM. It took about two minutes to figure out what was going on, and back to bed I went.

I told my dad about it later. He told me he would have put his foot in my *** if I had come rolling in at 3 AM to get ready for work.
That is one thing that sucks about technology. If the power went out in the middle of the night, I'd most likely still get up in time for work, but not guaranteed. A couple times, it HAS gone out just before I crashed out, and I've set my phone alarm, and frankly, that was just lucky timing.

It's only Tue, and it feels like Wed already. Long week so far, and I don't expect it to change.

As I wrote yesterday, to celebrate Hitler's Birthday, they are turning off the power where I live today.

This better be a quiet day at the office. Otherwise the shovels come out.

OK, I went past the high school this morning. Big sign, Home of the Nimrods. I assume they were using the meaning as "Hunter."

Yup.

Nimrod was the name of a famous hunter in the Bible. Bugs Bunny used it in a cartoon once to describe Elmer Fudd and the "what a maroon" connotation took off from there.

It's my cousin's birthday today. Sadly, she is a Jehovah's Witness and does not recognize/celebrate birthdays therefore I am unable to wish her one.
