Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

We have different one-off recognition programs, but this survey is just something that they want to do in order to make the workplace more enjoyable for us - in theory. The problem is, they've made it into such a big deal, your group has to work on its lowest score, form an action plan, follow up on the plan, etc., and it just became grating. Now that we're in year 4 or 5 of this, it's moved beyond grating to just tedious. Many groups fill out the survey with overly good remarks so that they have to do less with it throughout the year. My last group, two survey years prior now, the manager got savaged by us because he deserved it. Independently, we all rated things extremely low because he'd been jerking us around all year. He ended up getting a "promotion" away from managing and is now a high level analyst of sorts. Really, it was a lateral move as the person who took over his team reports to the same manager.
Sounds familiar, about giving "not bad" remarks, anyway. The questions were either way too general, or for the specific questions, nothing was heeded, given the "mail it in" approaches by many of the workers.

We're effectively done at 12:30. This might be a record. Awaiting two checks, and that's it.

I think we put one client out of business today. *shrug*

Wow. The fatigue is really starting to kick in. Off to the ice arena and then a nap.

My advice for you is to drink heavily.

And why in the heck did they push the due date to the 18th this year?

Emancipation Day which should be 4/16 was celebrated this year on 4/15. It is a holiday in DC.

It was about 85 here yesterday. Finally.

90+ hours the past 7 days at the office. First day off since before Easter. Finally get a chance to sleep in today. So what happens? Wide awake at 7:15.

I ended up waking up before my alarm this morning because I had a dream/nightmare that someone had tampered with the alarm clock just to mess with me. As a result, I could now use a nap, a nice, long nap.

I once dreamt of myself waking up, turning off my alarm clock, and getting in the shower. Four times in a row.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

When I lived next door to my parents, I came home in the middle of tax season one night to find that I had no power or water due to a storm. Naturally, my parents had theirs. So I went to bed, only to have the power come back on in the middle of the night. The alarm went off, as everything had reset to 12:00. I saw that the clock read 12:00, but in my mind, it was time to get up and go to work. After all, the alarm went off. So I got up, got dressed enough to go to my parents' place to shower and get ready for work. As I'm in the living room, putting my shoes on, I glanced up at the clock on the wall. It read about 2:45 AM. It took about two minutes to figure out what was going on, and back to bed I went.

I told my dad about it later. He told me he would have put his foot in my *** if I had come rolling in at 3 AM to get ready for work.

My bike thermometer got to 95.

Big day tomorrow. They are turning off the power in my condominium in order to install some new turbines without electrocuting anyone, and it won't be back on until the evening at the earliest. They have been warning us about this for about a year.

That reads like Ralph needs to plan for an adventure day at the Air & Space Museum tomorrow. Maybe go to the Home Depot and Bed, Bath and Beyond, if you have time.

I haven't been at the Air & Space Museum in a couple of years.
