Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

Had a great day. Ran some errands, stopped by church for lunch, then headed to a local taproom for a quick pint (LTD in Hopkins for the locals). Ended up talking with one of the brewers for a bit, learned a lot about what they do, how they run the business, etc. Really liked it. Given it's about 2 miles from my place, I'll be back. Listening to the Wild about to go down 2-0 on the patio now, but the weather's so nice, I don't even care. :)

LIstening to nuclear peepers adn looking out at the moon on the ocean. Life could be worse :)

Today got within touching distance of a sea turtle and a stingray and a bunch of other really cool tropical water stuff. Also had 2 iguanas hanging out on opposite sides of the beach blanket like bookends with the parental units and me in the middle.

Holy mother was it hot. Can't stand on the sand without burning your feet.

And in other news- I am in paradise while poor Mr les is still manning the home fort.

Started following my neighborhood's police feed on Facebook. Holy crap! Most of it isn't very close to my house, though. Closest thing today was a kid's leg being severed by a slowly moving train. That wasn't even a mile away.

Once in a while I'll dial up the live police scanner for the county (you can find ones that do and do not include the actual city of Minneapolis). Some nights it gets interesting.

Church is having a promo today and tomorrow, can get up to $1040 credit, depending on which code one received in an email they sent out. A buddy and I pretty much figured out tomorrow's code is only worth $4 (we both had the same code), but today's might be worth a bit more. *crossesfingers*

Good Morning, Lodge!

Running some errands this morning and then off to the "Patio" to watch the Twins game.

Good Afternoon Lodge.

Good luck.

Thanks, but we had none.:(

Skunked both days. At least Jr saw one today when a hen was close to him and a big tom strutted out of the woods all puffed up. Unfortunately as turkeys do, she went to him and he never got in range. I had them gobbling at me and my call, but again, toms expect the hens to come to them. We may try again in late season at a friend's place way in the SE corner of the state. We can stay in his fifth wheel and take the whole weekend. Easier than the drives down at 4 AM.

Little g wants to try deer hunting this fall. He will be 10 next month. 10!

We will definitely need to modify a bunch of things in order for him to get out in the woods.

A) Great!
B) Firearm safety training. Get the certificate.
C) There is an organization that specifically helps people with different abilities get out to hunt. I'll look for the name. They work a lot with Vets.

ETA: Get him to the State clay target meet to see all the kids shooting! Jr shoots June 18, I believe.

That stinks, goldy.

Love that Little G found something he really wants to pursue, and best of luck following through!

Lovely day here in the 952. Hopefully the end of cold weather is finally here.

Meh. We're not great hunters. If we hunt later we'll try to correct our mistakes. We need to set up closer to where the turkeys roost and get them soon after the fly down instead of trying to draw them in. We're not good enough at calling them in.

It was the "so close" aspect...I mean, dang...you HAD the turkey, so to speak...
