Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #183: The Final Approach To Off-Season

I am looking to rid myself of Dish/cable. The only reason I haven't dumped Dish is due to the fact that my family likes sports especially Fox Sports North due to local sports programming. Every single option to dump Dish does not allow for local sports programming. However, it looks like Playstation Vue might be the answer. Anyone have experience with it?

There was some discussion on it on GPL. Mixed reviews on smoothness of the stream (which the company knows about, they are still working out the bugs). I will also be looking into that once everything is worked out. I just want my Fox Sports family of channels, and I'm happy.

And Scarlet: wait, you got a tweeter response in less than 4 days?! Not kidding, I've tweeted them twice about things (complaining; I called them to actually fix the problems) and it has taken that long to get a response.

From what I have gathered a PlayStation is not required.

Amazon Firestick also works.

However, even if you don't game (except for Tiger Woods golf, I don't game), the PS3 is a solid Blu-ray player, and obviously it works with all the internet streaming programs (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc).

Good evening Lodge. Internet issue all fixed. Got home, it was still out. Called Comcast. Got a live person on the second try! Had to reset my wireless connections. Renamed them, etc. took about 45 minutes. The good thing is it took just long enough that by the time I got in my car to head up les' neighborhood traffic had let up. And the torrential rain they were predicting for the evening commute never materialized. Was eating at my parents' place, they had just got home as well and my brother texted to tell me my niece's performance was coming up way faster than they initially thought. We dropped everything to head out and naturally, downpour. But it stopped as quickly as it started.

Geek Squad scheduled to show up here tomorrow between 8am-12noon to set up Mom and Dad's new computer.

Good mornin' Lodge.

A touch of insomnia and the wind, the friggin' wind, woke me up. My apt complex is two buildings, and they kind of curve, forming a horseshoe-shape. Therefore, swirling winds, and when those winds kick up...it's LOUD.

Believe you'd have to have a Sony TV for that though. Not sure though.

I'd say get a PS4. Worst case scenario is you have a blu-ray player that can play the occasional game.

Good Morning Lodge.

At the office for a few hours. Jr is supposed to come and meet me a little after noon so we can go to an outdoors show. He went to a car show with some buddies. His phone died and we haven't replaced it yet so he has to try to get here with a paper map and no back-up if he gets lost. We'll see how that all works.

Kids these days.

Yes, I've failed as a father. I tried to teach him to use paper maps, but I waited too long and he is convinced the only way to find something is with a smart phone.:(

He borrowed his mom's flip phone for today though so he has back-up should he get lost on the way here (just called me).

I turned on to this blue line...
