Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #183: The Final Approach To Off-Season

I turned on to this blue line...

He didn't, but it was what got him off track cause at 5th and 2nd it looks like you have to turn due to the tracks. You can, in fact jog over across the tracks there and stay on 5th but he turned onto 2nd Ave. He called and I talked him through it though.

We're possibly getting 1-3" of snow tomorrow morning and another 4-6" all day Monday!! OMG!!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #183: The Final Approach To Off-Season

We'll be around 60 degrees and sunny tomorrow, then in the low- to mid-40s on Monday.

Yes, I've failed as a father. I tried to teach him to use paper maps, but I waited too long and he is convinced the only way to find something is with a smart phone.:(

He borrowed his mom's flip phone for today though so he has back-up should he get lost on the way here (just called me).

My son loves maps.
When we do a family road trip we bring 2-3 atlases just so there is no fighting plus a world atlas......just in case. :)

When I went out earlier today they were not predicting this. Heard it on the way home. I don't want to deal with snow. I want to get in my garden.

When we were kids we would go on vacation for a couple of weeks and my parents would get a Trip tic from the RAC (Royal Auto Club). It had maps as well as text. At one point we went in 2 cars my father's secretary (now his wife) was in one car with either of my parents and the other parent had one of us kids navigating. That was usually me because my brother had a knack for vomiting his way through vacation. He was never car sick any other time. Very 'fond' memories of hearing "Hold the bag for your brother!!"

The hubster, both LGFs, my sister, and I will be there.

Most everyone but me. I'll be at church for the first game.

Had a good night, spent the first part at church with one buddy, then joined up at another place with some other friends. Watched one fail to eat the big pretzel*, and had tons of fun breaking down the walls of good taste for humor.

*The Big Pretzel is 13" in diameter, and about 2" in girth. It's all the carbs. All of them.

Just raked the rest of the front yard, in the mizzle. Nothing like getting raking and having th mist cool you down as you go. Life is good
For some reason, this sounds very appealing. I think it's because I miss being at my parents' house when it mists/drizzles. They have a few old comforters that you can drag onto the porch and cuddle in one of the chairs with while reading and looking at the lake.

More importantly, can he drive a stick shift? If not, I feel this is a bigger failure. Though not being able to read a map is a handicap as we learned in parts of California when we didn't have cell signal.

As long as it does not snow on Wednesday morning! I will not be hindered!! I am traveling to TAMPA!
So who's all going down to Tampa?
thecomicbookguy and I are flying down on Wednesday.

YAY! Kids! :)

*drool* I love pretzels. Is it a soft one with lots of salt?

Double post. At work tonight. Last night we had a birthday party for one of the seasoned nurses with cake, chips and salsa, fruit and whipped cream, and celery/carrots/tomatoes and ranch. Tonight we had a cheese without the w(h)ine party -- 8 different cheese plus crackers, mixed nuts, and fig spread. I think my belly was happier with the birthday party than the cheese. Fortunately, one of my 2 patients is intubated, so I don't feel too bad carpetbombing.

Looks/sounds great. Is it a convenient stop for when we visit for the FF in a few years?

The Uptown or Northeast location may be convenient, via bus/light rail but I am very unfamiliar (re: I don't know sh*) about that mode of transportation. And if you are not in the mood for the pretzel, they specialize in exotic sausages (yeah, I know what I typed, peanut gallery!).

I saw the episode of Bizarre Foods that featured this place -- it sounds awesome.
