Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Gloomy, gray and drizzly day here in Charlotte. I'd say if I wanted this weather I'd stay home but apparently it's beautiful back home. At least it's not cold and raw.

Good Morning, Lodge!

Cleaning day at work. Our "new boss" will be coming tomorrow. We are all taking bets on how often we see him. Corporate says he is coming from Eagan, so we won't see him that much.

The office manager: Lady drives from Eagan everyday. Hey Lady! How long does it take for you to get to work?
Me: 30-35 minutes. Slightly longer if it is raining.
Current Boss: There is no excuse for him not to come here at least once a week.

Good Morning Lodge.

I have a second interview tomorrow with the start-up company. A different company that I met with passed on me, which is OK, cause I think I would have passed on them.

Another guy in my current office got let go yesterday - he was contract so they just ended his contract. Worked in a different area than I do.

Good luck!

There was an Asian man riding a bicycle the wrong way down one of the two bus lanes today on 2nd Ave S and 9th St. He was riding right in the middle of the lane, staring down the bus ahead of us (we were in the right lane, that bus was in the left, so I had a view). Eventually the guy moves towards the right lane, continues around the bus, gets back into the left lane. Then it's our turn. He's back in the left lane, the lane my bus is required to use, based upon how the bus lanes here are supposed to work. He gets off his bike, parks it perpendicular to the lane of traffic, and then starts walking up to our bus. The bus driver starts to maneuver around him and then he starts slapping the door. Weird things happen on the bus. My stop was two blocks down the road and after I got off I looked back down the street. He was doing the same to more buses as they tried to navigate around him, only there was more traffic down there than when we passed him.

He's either Icelandic or (high).

Mookie would take 30-35 minutes with a smile :)

Morning, Lodge. Enjoying some time off (well-earned or not). Have had a low key few days to stare at my navel. Not sure I could do to this for a prolonged period of time, but it's not so bad for 4-5 days. Long stretch (5 nights in a row) coming up starting on Friday night.

The best part is that I go against traffic.

Same here. 94 eastbound out of St. Paul toward downtown Maplewood is the Autobahn in the mornings. It's a lovely thing as I see westbound traffic stopped at least into Woodbury. :) I am still amazed in the 15+ years I've been doing this drive in the morning I still have not been pinched.

My dad refers to introspective time as "navel gazing", thought is was a common phrase... :o

My first though was you are pregnant and either waiting to feel quickening or to see your belly grow. hence the

Definitely not. I don't know what happened, but I don't have any childbearing inclination.
Well, I thought you had said that but I couldn't think of any other reason you would be looking at your navel

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Some of you might remember, but doubtful, that I used to tell stories about Gay Guy #1 and Gay Guy #2 that worked in my department some 8 years ago, give or take. Well, GG#2 ended upon the Fox 9 news broadcast last night. He was complaining about barking dogs and capturing video of them, all the while complaining that the police don't do anything about it due to not showing up to investigate the complaint until the next day, and the story went from there about how Minneapolis is looking into rewriting its noise ordinance laws.

He left the company a couple years ago, and some of us who knew him were talking about it. I just thought it was funny because everybody in the conversation is pretty much saying, "Oh, he's still whining."
