Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught
I have gotten the flu shot for the last few years. I'm not a fan as I do develop the side effects (prodromal symptoms) for about 12-24 hours afterward. Because I work with such sick patients now (and the potential for such in the ED), I don't mind getting the vaccine, but if I didn't work in healthcare, I'd likely not get it. I encouraged my husband to get it last year as we were doing a lot of travel during flu season, but am ambivalent about it this year.
Spending the evening looking over health insurance stuff. The hubs company was just purchased by a very large organization and is changing the insurance stuff. This happens to coincide with open enrollment at the hospital, so we're trying to decide whether we can afford to go cheap or if it's worth it to spend a little more. We're generally healthy (other than being overweight). The dental and vision benefits are a wash between the two companies. My company has FSA, hubs has an HSA that the company contributes to. My company has lower deductibles/lower max cost, but higher cost (makes sense). Of course, my insurance expects that you'll utilize the hospital and associated clinics (which are 45 minutes away). This
adult-ing" thing is hard.
I don't get a flu shot, FWIW.
Evening y'all.
