Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: 17th Edition: Summer Isn't Just A Stripper's Name

I would just like to say don't ever move to Denver. It has the worst weather in the country. It's worse than Seattle. It's worse than Houghton. It's worse than Bemidji.

Sitting at the dmv as the boy is doing his drivers test. No way he passes based on the mistakes he made on the way here.

Uncharacteristic stuff that he usually does right but is messing up coz he's nervous. Hoping for a miracle...

Good Morning Lodge.

It was so short and, basically, embarrassing, that I am reluctant to post such a report. Long and the short of it is Jr and I are not cut out for camping. Neither of us sleeps well on the ground, in a tent. We are too hot or too cold, hard to get pillows that work and the sounds can keep us awake. We had a mother *ing whippoorwill next to our camp that did not shut up from midnight to 5 AM. Combine that with my back not reacting well to paddling, carrying, climbing, trying to cook on a stove on the ground and laying on the ground and we were ready for a cabin or motel after just one night. So we bagged it and went back to the outfitter who put us up in the bunk house. We fished again in the morning and caught a few more small bass then headed for home. Then we hit the dam deer 10 miles south of Ely. Car is still in Ely waiting for an estimator to come and check it out.:(

Lol. It's not for everyone and to be honest, the older I get, the more I want a roof, a bed and a hot shower.

Check the link that I posted if you want to do the bwcaw without the roughing it part.

Do they test parallel parking there still? That's usually where mistakes are made.

S'upp y'all

If God wanted Mookie to hike he wouldn't have invented cars.
If God wanted Mookie to sleep on the dirt he wouldn't have invented beds.
If God wanted Mookie to paddle a boat he wouldn't have invented outboard motors.

Or perhaps the advice should be don't move to where Twitch is, he can't have nice things.

Girl across the street made the turn as directed, but from the wrong lane. I've heard that one gets quite a few also. Auto-fail.

So State Farm has agreed to tow the Subaru to a shop in Hibbing who is capable of doing the work. At first that was going to be on my nickel (or my $200). The guys in Ely are super nice and helpful. If I had a 2000 Chevy pick-up that was damaged, they'd be my guys - a 2014 Subaru Impreza, not so much.

All I can say is I'm comforted knowing that you are back safely behind the gates and not out in that cruel, hard, cold (and noisy) world. :p

:D

You would hate St. Lucia as there were no windows and there were these tree frogs that peeped (incredibly LOUD - dudes had some pipes) most of the night and the mourning doves were up by about 4am every morning.

The very reasons you dislike camping are the exact reasons I enjoy it. Granted, we use cots with goose down air mattresses and other gear that make things easier but we are still in a tent.

I have spent numerous occasions in the wilderness with nothing more than my clothing, a knife, a rifle and some other basic essentials. I was not alone but that can get sort of difficult to say the least.

If life as we know it changed dramatically and we were forced to live off the grid I (and my family) would manage to survive. Quite the opposite with a vast majority of people though. ;)

Goldy would die of lack of sleep in the first week. :D

Oh yeah, and when the zombie apocalypse happens, doubt you'll be able to tote your goose down air mattresses around with you. :p

Goldy would be dead the second he found out that there wouldn't be cake for breakfast. :)

I wouldn't need to carry the goose down mattress. I would just shoot my way to getting what I wanted. #mygunisbiggerthanyours :D
