This is why I constantly whine. They have made medicine a business. It should not be one. In the old days the Primary would have rounded on the pt. They would have known him, known the family and visa versa. Now some hospitalist, who doesn't communicate with the PCP, blunders along, doing a shi77y job of figuring out what is best for the pt which in the end costs 2 X as much and leaves everyone dissatisfied (except for the hospitalist who is blind to the suck job he/she is doing and brings in $ to the hosp). I could rant more but have to go to work now. I need to retire.Boy, slow news day in tLodge. Latest dad update - still here in ICU. Not because he has to, but because there are still no available beds in the hospital. He's feeling better, at least more awake and aware, so much better than what he was like on Saturday. The nurse took him for a walk today around the ICU (it's a circular department) two times. So that's good. Still a bunch of unknowns. Met with the Nurse Case Manager to talk about when he gets released. My mom and I were like "and that will be when?" Seems like everything that we have questions on only the doctor can answer and he only here at, like 6:30-7:00am. So, I wrote a bunch of questions out for him the share with the doctor. My mother said she'll come tomorrow morning early so she's here when the doctor comes.
I'm going to go home tonight and to work tomorrow. So much waiting here. He's been sleeping and he's eating, so I don't worry about not being here. He did acknowledge he's worried at what this will do/has done psychologically. I think that's a good sign that he realizes that. I hope my mother can mention to the doctor about maybe having some mental therapy as well as cardiac therapy.
My brother just showed up and my sister-in-law is coming as well. They're close by so that's a good thing.
Man, les, the healthcare system could really do with an upgrade. I don't know how you manage!!

Happy Tuesday <- fake smile
Good evening Lodge. Posting tonight from my parents' place. Dad is home. Didn't think he get discharged today otherwise I would've stayed up here. And given the day I had at work today, I probably should have. Not going into it. Let's just say it was Tuesday. Dad is doing good. He has a walker till he gets more steady on his feel. Trying to get it into his head that he's been in a hospital bed for about a week and had a pretty invasive procedure so being shaky is to be expected. Visiting Nurse is coming tomorrow so I want to be here for that. I may take the rest of the week off as well.
And I know I've said this already but I really do appreciate your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. It means a lot.
