Good Morning Lodge.
Work has been really busy, and I had a sorta bombshell drop (in a good way) this past weekend.
You're gonna be the new D-head boss?

Good Luck gmann. Hope you make the right choice (whatever that turns out to be).

I got a call from a headhunter yesterday about a very different kind of opportunity. Hard to evaluate as it would be such a departure. I'm going to follow up on it a bit more in any case.

Good Morning Lodge.

Thanks. If it works out (lots of what ifs right now) I could pick between a host of places. Mankato, Owatonna, Austin, Rochester, Winona and a few others.

Owatonna has a convenient location for getting out of town, each and every direction at that, and for visiting the ever loving in-laws. Austin smells really bad. Really bad. It's on par with Grand Forks in how bad it smells, because of the Hormel pig processing plant in town. Winona's on the WI border, which can have its perks on a Sunday morning and supplies are low. Beyond that, you have to deal with a high rate of Packer fans. Mankato has college hockey, but it's Mankato State Purple Cow hockey, and it's in the WCHA which isn't good for anyone these days. Rochester has a lot to offer, keeps making the top 10 lists for livable cities in the country.

Rochester is getting very crowded, home prices will soon rival the TC, if they don't already and construction is going to make it very difficult to get around in soon.

Mankato is set up great for hockey weekends. Nearly all the bars, the hotels, and the arena are right next to each other. The county jail is even there so the cops don't have to drag you far.

That's great for gmann to have a plan on how little g and gII can find him later that night!

Good Afternoon, Lodge!

Terrible Tuesday continued into Wednesday. I have been fighting with our large format printer and the stupid printheads all day. Get it to work and then it decides not to print Magenta, but it is the Cyan printhead that is not working.

I have been tossing and turning last last few nights playing out all the pros and cons. I decided to stay put for now. Totally my call. it just didn't feel right. I will get another shot again. Not a matter of if but when.

For the record, the location would have been between Mankato or Rochester. Those two were the best of the worst and I probably would have picked Rochester purely due to the upside but definitely the lesser of two evils.

Going with your gut....always a good call.
I would imagine with little g's needs Rochester would be a fine choice.

It is nice to have a choice

Friends have left back for NY. Fantastic time with them while they were here, but I will enjoy the remaining 6 days at home without company.

Hated seeing the USCG is effectively ending the search for the crew of the cargo ship off the Bahamas. I can't even imagine what they were going through trying to abandon ship in that storm. I didn't know anybody on there, but a friend had worked with several on board, and there was an '03 alum of my alma mater on there as well.
