Friends have left back for NY. Fantastic time with them while they were here, but I will enjoy the remaining 6 days at home without company.

Hated seeing the USCG is effectively ending the search for the crew of the cargo ship off the Bahamas. I can't even imagine what they were going through trying to abandon ship in that storm. I didn't know anybody on there, but a friend had worked with several on board, and there was an '03 alum of my alma mater on there as well.

IMHO that would be an absolutely horrible way to go and third on my list. First is being attacked by raisins. Second on my list is being eaten alive by sharks.

3 of the crew were from Mass. Very sad

Going with your gut....always a good call.
I would imagine with little g's needs Rochester would be a fine choice.

Agreed on all counts. I have some extended family in Rochester, so have visited there many times over the years. It's a nice mid-sized city. Not for me at this age, but it'd be a nice place for a family man/retiree, IMO.

I need a drink, but when I get out of work it will be socially unacceptable to go to a bar (as it isn't the FF).

FTR, there are a couple bars that have 3-for-1s in the Twin Cities metro area, usually from 8am until 10am or so. Specifically for the overnight workers. :D

Now that makes TC more appealing!! Husband's company was bought by a company that is based in California, but they have a satellite office in Edina btw. I don't think we'll be moving if it comes to that, but it did cross my mind.

I found out about them via friends that worked overnights. Never partook, but info is always good. Just in case...

Might as well spill it now. The bombshell:

Instead of 4-5 years from now, per original agreement...I'm getting involved in RV2's life in about a month. Did NOT expect this, but Goddam am I pumped.

And, now that I've looked at my texts, MIL is coming over to use our washer/dryer tomorrow in the "late morning/early afternoon". Fan-f-tabulous. How 'bout that drink.

HOWEVER, much more importantly, SO excited for you, Brent!

A - You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.
B - If you like cake, Edina is the place to be.

Mornin'...

I do like me some cake... I also like this job that I just started and there's been no word as of yet what, if any, changes the new company will make. They take over officially on Nov. 1 and "there are no immediate changes" ... so who knows what Nov. 2 will bring.

Congrats

Good morning Lodge.

Quite a few years back I spent the evening in International Falls, MN to do some ice fishing. The person I stayed with dad owned a bar. We got up around 5 am and on our way to be lake he said "I'm going to stop by my dads bar to get some coffee". Ok whatever I guess. We get there and it's like walking into any local watering hole like it was a rocking Friday night. Smoke filled bar with music blaring, darts and pool being played and just rowdy. I was like w t f? Shift workers from the paper mill had been there since 11pm the night before. I did get a coffee but my buddy loaded up on something much stronger. :)

FWIW I feel like that and I am not out the door yet.
