Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

Good Morning everyone!

You guys crack me up. I always wanted to relocate to the UK but now the Gulf Stream has shifted and the climate has changed- not so much. Used to be warmer but now it is cold all the time with too much rain and snow happening in late May. IN my dreams I would not have to chose and would have a few places to move between. SInce I have not hit the lottery and Mr les is advers to anything but this small portion of 978-land (where I, a snob, feel people are mostly imbeciles) I expect we will have to settle on traveling a fair amount.

Hey MA people, any suggestions for dinner somewhere not too far from Westford? My co-worker wants fresh seafood.

Made it Boston, so far have not wanted to stab coworkers

Good evening Lodge.

Cripes it has been pouring here since before the sun came up and it's not supposed to let up until late tomorrow. Might be a good time to build that ark I have always wanted. ;)

So......has Goldy been leid yet?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

What do people think of these cities as places to live?

Austin, TX
Seattle, WA (area)
Portland, OR
Raleigh, NC
Scottsdale, AZ
San Francisco, CA (area)

hot, crazy
expensive, crazy
crazy, crazy
hot
dull (never been there)
crazy, expensive, crazy

Raleigh wins

edit: I haven't been to any of these places

edit #2: who in their right mind would leave pittsburgh?

Off that list - I would tolerate a few years of oppressive Austin heat for the low taxes and cost of living just to sock away a lot of money, but ultimately I'd have my sights on Seattle. There's a few other cities I'd personally prefer more, but if your wife won't put up with the snow anymore, well...good luck. :p

What about Albuquerque? You get Arizona's desert heat without the wall-to-wall hellhole of urban sprawl that is Phoenix, but I'm not sure where that would put you in terms of getting jobs.

Where exactly is this les? My folks are both big seafood people and now that they live in your neck of the woods they're trying to find new places to go to dinner.

Greetings from Camp Hill, PA. Drove up here after our office event this morning in Hunt Valley, MD. It was gross hot here today. It rained this afternoon, hopefully it will cool things off. A little worried about Thursday's forecast as I have to drive to BWI from here and it's supposed to rain all day. I hope my flight home isn't affected. I have my annual physical Friday morning at 8:30. I made the appointment five months ago and I really don't want to miss it.

And you could probably start your own lab, with Walter out of the way...

Address: 34 Central Square, Chelmsford, MA 01824
Phone: (978) 250-0101. It is in the Center of Chelmsford. Right by where 110/ Chelmsford St/Rt 4 all intersect. Small place, food is incredible. All of it. Crab-cakes are YUMMMM!

Great - thanks! I will mention to them.

So I called for pizza delivery for dinner tonight. Went to the front desk to ask if they had any recommendations. They gave me two options - Papa John's and a place called Boston Express. I went with the Boston Express place. Not because Boston is in the name. But because the Papa John's flyer listed six locations, each with a phone number with NO AREA CODE. How do I call a number without an area code from my phone with a Boston number? Idiots.

And Papa John's just isn't that good. Might as well take a chance.

yeah, I'd rather go local every time unless you are absolutely nowhere. That being said, PJ is probably the best of the chains.

I like Domino's the best out of the big 3 (Dom, PJ's, Pizza Hut).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

I used to like PH pan pizza, but increasingly it seems like a lot of PHs are very poorly run. In fact, it seems like their trajectory in the past 3-5 years has been the exact opposite of Domino's.

It has. Remember their "rebirth" with the artisan pizzas? Yeah, that went well.

Pizza Hut is done within 5 years, IMO.

Having said that, I prefer to buy more local for pizza. Around here, Sarpino's is good (a smaller chain), and Pizza Luce is also good although a bit pricey.

Domino's improved their stuff greatly in the past couple years. They listened to the complaints, didn't chase the Millennials the way Pizza Hut did but instead went for improving quality. Obviously not as good as local joints, but it's not a repugnant thought to eat it like it had become.
