Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

Mrs g and I took the boys to a decent restaurant when they were babies one time. Their behavior was acceptable. The issue was that they didn't have any manners. Little g (with no mean intent) backhanded his plate of chicken strips, fries with, ranch and ketchup. The plate landed face first against the wall. Ketchup and ranch everywhere. Literally within seconds after that little gII had a mouth full of milk and he sneezed. Milk flew out of his mouth and nose. We asked for our check. We tipped the waitress very well and got the hell out of there. :)

During my time in college, I was told a generous tip to be in the 10-12% range for most of northern MN. One of the women in my senior seminar course, where we wrote our thesis papers, used her time at working one of those restaurants as a place to collect data. She convinced a few of her fellow servers to help collect the data with her. Eight percent was the average. That shocked pretty much all of us who came from down in the Twin Cities. She just gave a rueful grin and nod routine when presenting her paper.

I don't know why, but my seasonal allergies are much worse than normal this year. I take the generic Claritin, but it's just not been effective much this summer, gone through multiple boxes of facial tissues this summer which isn't normally the case. I think I'm stopping by the pharmacy on the way home to look up other options. Perhaps a pharmacist will be available to talk while I'm there. This blows.

No wonder I get great service on road trips! 8%?! I usually hover around 20% depending on the place and initial service.

I tip around 20% at all restaurants, unless bad service merits a decrease.

I tip 15% for taxi drivers, and also for hair stylists, unless the haircut was truly exceptional.

At OC (and what was TK's), given what they do/did for me, I tip 25-30%. Favorite regular road trip joints (KBC, for example? 25%). 15-20% otherwise. if I visit the same place on a road trip, and they better my service on that weekend/etc? It goes up. It is a ***-for-tat industry, like it or not. Some get it, some don't. Some are also more understanding, as they have been on the "other side of the counter" like I have.

Good Morning Lodge.

At the office to put in a few hours as I leave Tuesday for vacation. Need to get some stuff done and build hours as I don't have enough PTO yet.

Mornin'. Headed to bro's later today, just a little family get-together because yay summer. This humidity stinks, but it appears to break about Sunday around midnight. Perfect, since my work has no A/C.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

Greetings Lodge. Was up and out to breakfast around 9:30. Had to drive into the office to pick up a couple of tshirts I left there. Actually, I couldn't find them yesterday. I had bought 10 Team USA tshirts and took three with me this past week. I was worried someone might've walked off with them while I was away. I went in today to really check around my cube and others' cubes. I had a couple of back up shirts I could use so I grabbed that box first and lo and behold, there they were. I had hidden them so no one would take them and then forgot I had hid them.

Heading up to les' neighborhood later today. The Greek church in Dracut right up the street from my parents' place is having its festival this weekend. Going to go with them for dinner and stay over up there.
