Paging RFAlph- I sent you a slew of stuff re the dead people. :)

Yes, I got them. Thanks! I will send you an email response later. It is quite interesting that two famous people came to the US together. (Well, Hirschfeld isn't famous but what he did is.)

Edit: In case anyone cares, Leopold Hirschfeld (Leo Hirshfield in the US) is a distant relative of mine. He invented the Tootsie Roll, named after his daughter who was nicknamed Tootsie. He grew up in Laupheim, Wuerttemberg with Carl Laemmle. Both were born in 1867 and they immigrated to the US together in 1884. Laemmle founded Universal Studios.

When I worked I received 13 days of annual leave for my first three years, then 20 days until 15 years. After that 26 days. We were able to carry over up to 30 days. One reason that I retired on January 1 was that it was the last day of the leave year that year. IIRC, I took only two days of leave the last year that I worked so that I got paid for about 24+30 days when I retired.

We also got 13 days of sick leave per year and could carry over as much as we wanted. One gets credit for working longer due to unused sick leave when one retires. I had over a year and a half of unused sick leave. (It takes 20 years to earn a year of sick leave.)

Currently working 8 months/year with 4 months off, stretches of 28 days working and 14 off (truly more like 12.5-13 off depending on travel). Hopefully 6 months and 6 months by the end of the year.

Good morning everyone! Trying to put a positive spin on life. Made Chocolate chip cookies and frosted a cake this AM. I really need to be independently wealthy.

(Mookie is picturing Mr. as the automatic pilot with Julie Haggerty in Airplane :D)

How have you already completed all of this and it's not even 9:00 yet? Are you pregnant and barefoot, too?

Haha! If I managed to be pregnant at this age I would be in a rubber room :p

Another day where electronics just suck.....

But there was chocolate cake for dessert

PS where is everyone? In the gutter, adulting in the real world? It is very slow in here today.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

Mid-year assessments (self-assessed). Whee. Uh, yeah, I basically work alone (I do have a co-worker that is around for about half my day, but no real interaction; we have different jobs). So, "yep, doing good. Don't want to advance, I like this position. Yeah, that's about it."

It's pretty much pointless to fill the assessment out, given the nature of the position. Oh well.

Like most companies, my employer likes to pretend ours matter. They don't, they're just done once per year for HR's records.

They would matter more if I were at the main building. You are shifted to more areas and such over there. For the offsite, the 3 positions there (me, my somewhat co-worker, and the overnight guy) are beyond basic. We are quite literally an island.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

My midyear assessment sucked. Only because of these darn bowel issues I've been having though, and they have less than a year to go off of. They aren't convinced I'm completely dependable. Ah well. They'll see.

So...you're worth sh*?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

Exactly!

No. My manager had told me he knows I haven't done anything on purpose to try and just skip out on work, likes the work I have done, thinks I'll end up going places yadda yadda. It'll all work out.
Good to hear.
