Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

35-1/2 glorious years! Maxed out at 5 weeks (200 hours vacation) along with 12-13 paid holidays. The bad news is 12 more years until retirement (unless I meet a sugar mama)...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

It'll be 15 1/2 years for me this Friday. When I hit 10 years, I got another week. Wait...did I get another one when I got promoted a while back? All I know is that I get 25 days. That's 5 weeks. Plus 3 personal days and 8 holidays. We can carry up to 20 days. I've had them to carry over for the last I don't know how many years. So, when I start every January 1, I take the 20 carryover right off the top and determine I have 25 FTO (flexible time off - used for vacation, sick time, etc) and 3 Personal Days - so 28 days - to use or lose. I'm lucky I'll get through those this year. That's why I take Fridays off. I also get comp time if I work over weekends. And holidays. I'm traveling and working over Labor Day weekend and am only going to take one day instead of two (at least for now) as I don't know if I can use up what I have to.

We just had the CRAZIEST storm blow through here about an hour ago. I've never seen hail like that in the city. It got really dark really fast. Now t's sunny out.

Not even a year in here, but I started with 160 hours with 10 paid holidays.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

We had a tornado warning, wild winds and rain. No hail.

Made the mistake of updating to Windows 10 by pushing the button to what I thought said wait and wasn't awake enough to see it meant GO! What a CF. Took most of the day. the IT guy for work texted me to bring my laptop in and I needed to go fetch it from home. Windows 10 doesn't let me have my old internet explorer with all my tabs that let me find the pages I used the most. I didn't have them in favorites because I had them in the tabs so a lot of what I had is lost  because I don't know what the websites were only where they were in the order of my tabs. Grrrrr. And after all that the guy said my laptop should be able to work at home and it fails out. Electronics are SATAN!!!

4 wks of vacation but rarely take it all. I get so screwed when I am out of office that it is so bad when I get back it doesn't seem worth it. I have no idea how many sick days I get because I rarely uses them but I think I get a total of 10 d of sick/personal days.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

We have "unlimited PTO" (within reason) that covers vacation, sick, and personal days. We used to have a seniority-based system with a set number of days per year, and you could roll over up 5 days each year (with a hard cap of 25 days). There was a huge flap when that policy was changed, because everyone pointed out that the company would no longer have to pay out those unused days upon resignation. Company ended up working out a deal where everyone with days still accrued on Dec 31 of that year got an extra paycheck of up to two weeks pay (or 10 days PTO), for the Jan. 15 pay cycle. Days beyond that were "use it or lose it" prior to Dec 31st.

5+ weeks here, and we can FINALLY carry over (I don't like taking more than a couple days off at a time). I can count on one hand how many times I took more than 4 consecutive days off.

Hence my practice of loading up on 4 day weeks during certain times of the year.

Paging RFAlph- I sent you a slew of stuff re the dead people. :)

So we are cat sitting for a couple weeks. Cat belongs to a kid who's going to Europe to play for the US u18 team. Future Gopher. We just moved the parakeet into the dinning room so we could shut the doors. A cat's just a little too interested in the bird. Might be OK, but won't take the chance.

We've cat sat before, but the other cat was older and not so interested in the bird.

Don't we have the discussion about how many days of vacation/holidays everyone gets about once every 2 months?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

Almost 6 months here (Off probation in 5 days!). 4 days vacation. Can't roll any over, but unused will be cashed out if not used by the end of the first quarter next yer. Goes to 8 next year. But, I only theoretically work 4 day weeks and I can trade shifts to get days off.

Except when fun stuff is happening. ;)
